Can one purchase a keg at these liquor stores? If so, do they list their keg selections anywhere? I didn't see anything along this line on their website. And do keg orders (if available) require ordering in advance? Thanks for any input.

I guess it is like in nearly all "Getränkemärkten" in Germany - they always sell kegs (I guess the standard-sizes of 10 - 50l)! And they normally have many available, but as beer is a very regional thing, the selection varies (beside nationwide brands) from store to store. If you know which store you're going to, call them in advance to ask for their selection. If you want a special beer, they normally can try to order it, but it takes probably one or two weeks (depending on what you're looking for).

And be aware, that kegs in Germany are reusable and have a deposit of ~50€... (or do you mean the one-way 5l-cans??)

Thanks much for your input. I greatly appreciate it. 50E is pretty stiff deposit but that's life. If one wants real beer one has to pay a little more for it.

:-) - which beer are you looking for???? Here in Germany, we don't use one-way-kegs, so they are quite expensive... and therefore have a high deposit.... The only cheap way is buying a few 5l-cans... but only a few breweries fill them.
