Orval availability

    I'm visiting Belgium soon and was just wondering how easy it is to purchase crates of orval as I have read online that it is hard to get at a lot of places at the moment.

    I plan on getting a lot of my beer from vanuxeem in ploegsteert but can anyone recommend anywhere else where I can purchase orval by the crate if vanuxeem have not got any?

    Carrefour selling at €2.05 when i was there last week. Lots available.

    There appeared to be a blip in production/distribution a few months ago, but no problems now, abundantly available.

    Vanuxeem has been out of Orval the last 3 times I've been there. The other drink marts I go to are hit or miss, but hardly ever have any in stock. Maybe I'm just going on the wrong days or the Hainaut Provence has not yet recovered from the blip.

    I'm not driving all over the country looking for it, but I look at the beer aisle anytime I'm in a grocery store and hit a drink mart at least every other week. My last trip to Vanuxeem was 3-4 weeks ago, so they may have some in stock now.

    Go for the "normal" Supermarkets like Delhaize, Carrefour, etc. There you will probably have more luck than in the dranken-shops. :slight_smile:

    Not the case around here, at least right now. Restaurants are the only sure place to get an Orval at the moment.

    Vanuxeem didn't have any back in May or August.

    Im travelling this week, does anyone know if it is in stock at vanuxeem or anywhere else? I'm looking to buy at least 3 or 4 crates.

    South of Belgium => visit any Colruyt or Carrefour shop and you will be able to buy some.
    North of Belgium is very quick OOS...

    Can you provide addresses of the Colruyts and Carrefours south of Brussels that have this plentiful bounty of Orval? Just asking because 30 minutes south of Brussels they hardly ever have any.

    Can cases be purchased from the shop at Orval?

    I'm not sure, i think 4/6 packs will be availabe and if they would sell cases, it will be just 1..
    The cases are also a collector item..
    69.000HL produced last year, but no intention to expand, a lot of business development managers would bang their head to the wall..twice.. :slight_smile:

    So how come there is a shortage in the shops in Belgium? I wonder if a lot of it is being sent over to America.

    They sell boxes at the shop and at the tavern close by they have green orval on tap ... petit Orval for us
