Why the hell would anyone pass? We are BA and we try new stuff. I will try it before passing any judgement.

It's not like they are packing it with excrement. WTH?

I have to admit that I am kind of digging the fruit IPA trend, as I enjoy IPAs but can tire of them quickly due to the flavor profile...most are kind of "one note" to me and the bitterness can wear my palate out quickly. Some of my favorite non-fruit IPAs taste like there is some sort of fruit buried in them (e.g. DFH 60 Minute, Cigar City Jai Alai...) and with a series like SA Rebel, the Grapefruit one ended up being my favorite with the ones I have tried thus far and while not a huge fan of Scuplin (it just doesn't live up to the hype and cost for me), I would probably say the same there too. I think the fruit can add another layer of complexity and can mellow things out quite a bit (but to some points, I could see how this may be a marketing tool to get IPAs to the masses). Point being, I will try pretty much any fruit IPA that comes my way and I am finding that in general I do end up liking them.

As for Pinner oddly enough I haven't tried the regular one yet so maybe I will do a side by side sometime.

I agree with both sides here. On one side, you have the thought of jumpin on the bandwagon..do what everyone else is, if you don't have what the comp has your not selling to that demo. Fruity beers are actually what got me away from mixed drinks and adjuncts. Without a beer labeled as a juicy fruity yada yada yada I'd still be stuck. Now I'll explore those breweries for their other styles and after all, OB has Ten Fiddy..if someone bought that as an intro to stouts, they will be hooked on another great beer. The other side is, IMO, that trying new things always leads to some creative approaches. I love to cook and I would love to have the opportunity to learn the craft trade and experiment..half of my experiments in the kitchen suck, but I keep playin with it until something I would share comes out. In the end if one bandwagon beer will lead to a unique approach or provide the funds for a costly good beer to produce, I'm ok with that. I trust companies like OB more than others to at least make a decent bandwagon beer. All said I'll try it out for sure!

I'm with you, I love variety and creativity. Enjoy By Tangerine is an incredible beer and I think it's funny how it's left out of the conversation in this thread. All of the sudden it's okay to have fruit additions in IPAs when you love the result, but it's just a "fad" or "marketing gimmick" when you don't like them. For all I know this could be a fantastic beer and certainly Oskar Blues has the capability of producing a fantastic beer.

OB is a great brewery. I hope our distributor gets this. Really wanna try it. I've only had one other passionfruit beer (Green Flash's Passionfruit kicker) and wasn't impressed. Hopefully OB does it better.

You have to try this before you criticize it. I've had a few 6 packs of it here in south Dakota and it's great. Drank it at the golf course in 90 degree weather and it was awesome. Has the tradition pinner taste with the fruit aftertaste.
    Well done OB.

Tried it's ok, it's pretty sweet for a fruit IPA but not tongue scrapingly sweet like some out there.. Fruit IPAs don't really excite me anymore though, GF Sculpin was one of the first ones I tried and was really intrigued at the time and it turned out be a solid beer but bit of a letdown. Tried many others since then and in the end Sculpin was one of the better ones so just not a style I'm really into. I can get all fruit flavors I need from a pseudosue, bedlam, one of lagunitas 100 different pales etc.

Some of these breweries adding shit to some brew's is fucking up the beers. I might have to change a few things around on buying beer.

    Cheers!

I love Pinner. I would definitely try this if it is available in my area.

Unfortunately, there's only a slight taste of passion fruit in this one too.

...And that is a good thing if you ask me. The minute they start drinking like a shandy it all goes to hell
