Has anyone had any from the bottle lately? Just picked some up a few weeks ago from Woodmans Sun Prairie and it had very little carbonation. I have had this beer multiple times on tap (and loved it) and know how it usually is. I know they had some issues with bourbon barrel night train and the variants but have not heard any issues with this beer. Still love me some Oso though!

Hey Jim! First off, thanks for supporting O'so Brewing. I appreciate you bringing this to my attention. I am surprised to hear this and very sorry for your experience. We are unaware of any carbonation issues in regards to Convenient Distraction in 750ml bottles. Currently, we do not date code or do any sort of batch indicator on our 750's like we do on our 12oz bottles, so unfortunately I cannot ask you to look at the bottle and know what batch it was from. I'll come up with a system and post it on our website so we can better track issues like this if they should occur.

After reading this post, I went to our beer library to check out the CD bottles. I currently have three batches of Convenient Distraction out on the market (to my knowledge) and all bottles I opened were carbonated very nicely. I can only speculate that the bottle or bottle cap was damaged in transit or at the retailer, allowing carbonation to slowly escape. While I cannot replace the bottle, I can offer my sincere apology for a bad experience. If you are ever in our tap room, it would also be my pleasure to catch ya a beer!

    Cheers!

FWIW, I had Convenient Distraction on tap this past weekend at the Old Fashioned, and it was good. And I mean near-Mornin' Delight good, and I'm a pretty picky coffee beer fan. Like so good I spent at least the first half of the first pint taking another sip just to double check that I wasn't imagining things and it really was that good. My dining companion (and fellow coffee beer fan) expressed similar sentiments.

That was far from my first Convenient Distraction, on tap or from a bottle, but it was a marked step up. Has there been a new batch recently? Love to find that same CD in a bottle (or, preferably, case of bottles).

I hope this isn't true. I have one and still haven't had it yet...plus I traded a flat Blackberry Night Train for it :slight_frown:

Haven't had any bottles since but had it on tap and had the barrel aged version and that made up for anything. Just awesome beer

Thanks for the compliments on the beer, folks.

The only keg product out in the market right now for CD is the same batch that is in *MOST of the 750's. If you can look at the box the CD's came in, it is marked batch 352-14/352-14 with a red mark (two different bottling runs, same batch of beer). The other batch out on the market is 309-14 and, IMO, is better than the 352, but what do I know?   If you cannot find a case at your retailer, please stop into the tap house as we have a few cases left in the brewery!

I truly believe the flat CD jimblobf received is an anomaly. Sorry, again, Jim. This is the first report I've heard of or had of any issues regarding this beer. We work very hard to do what we do and would never intentionally release anything we know there is a problem with. Yes, the blackberry nt was flat. The entire batch was. That happened before my tenure as operations manager and all I can do is apologize and tell you that we are learning, getting better, and that I have personally put new procedures into place to ensure that this never happens again!

If you would like to hear more details about the procedures that have been put in place, the tests we have done to determine the cause of the carbonation issue, or our solutions to these issues, please PM me or start another thread and let me know and I would be more than happy to share details of our trials and tribulations.

    Cheers!

Had one 3 months ago, great stuff. First beer I've had by O'so, looking forward to more.

I think Convenient Distraction is on the low carb side anyway which I think goes very well with the flavor profile. It was in the top 5 beers that I had for the 1st time in 2014.

Acquired and opened a bottle this past weekend – I'm not sure about batch number as the case it came in was not available at the store.

The flavor was very good – not on par with what we had on tap, but definitely a step up from past bottles. Unfortunately the carbonation level was an issue – while not flat, it was noticeably low and well below ideal.

Given how good it was on draft I'll probably give it another shot in the bottle, however in light of the other O'so releases in the last few months, I can't say I'm all that hopeful.
