This is probably the one thing I dislike about the craft beer world, there are always the small amount of people who think they have to be cool by hating on a brewery. These are the guys in the Budweiser commercial in the sweaters with their beer sample.

I would disagree this is "hating". I bought three bottles of the last release and they were all infected or flat. The brewery sent these out to market knowing they hadn't carbed up yet, and the only notice was a sign at the original release, no info to the stores. I don't hate O'so, I think they have potential. I'm not going to spend $15 a bottle on these next releases just to see if it's gotten better.

If deciding not to buy a brewery's special release after being burned not once, but twice on the same beer + variants and wanting to wait to see how the next release is received QC-wise before giving them any more money makes me one of these people, then fine, guilty as charged. Can you send me one of these sweaters though?

We don't have to worry about Mr. Sweater here coming to Central WI anymore because I'm sure he doesn't buy Central Waters beer anymore after they had two years of Peruvian Morning infections. I mean if a brewery doesn't have perfect beer all the time then Mr. Sweater can't support them.

Yea, and remember when Central Waters served infected 2012 Peruvian Morning at their anniversary party a few months ago? Oh wait, that was the infected 2012 BB Night Train at the O'so party a few months ago when they knowingly sent everyone home with bottles of beer with no carbonation and sent the same uncarbed beer into distribution.

CW issued a recall from stores. O'so posted a sort of apology on their facebook page and said you can drive up and exchange the bottles for something else. I'm not writing off O'so yet because I know they're a nice group of people who have the ability to make some really tasty beer but more than the BB Poblano Night Train left a sour taste in my mouth.

If it eases the collective worries of the masses to any extent, I can report that bottles of all three of the O'so beers are carbonated.

I also believe that is an unfair comparison, cw and discontinued that beer for the time being and it was only that beer that was infected. The last few times bb night train and variants were released they were infected, and this next release includes bbnt variants. And the fact that oso sent those beers into distribution knowing that they were not ready upset people even more. Also, people are not really "hating on oso" like you said, a lot of people are just saying that they are skipping this release to see how it goes. I personally, will still probably grab a few coconut bbnt but i totally understand why people might not want to get these bottles this time around and i dont believe that that means they are hating on oso by any means (or trying to be cool by doing so either).

To be fair, there hasn't been any proof of those beers being infected. I've had each variant several times, and while they were completely uncarbonated, they absolutely weren't infected. The best guess is that there were some off-flavors caused by old barrels. O'so did lab tests looking for infections, and nothing came back positive.

If the carbonation is figured out, there should be no doubt that these new ones will be perfectly fine.

Off flavors/ infected.....whatever you wanna call it, the beer was released tasting different than it should have. Label it how you want, it was not good.

So if a beer is tested and comes back negative for any infections does it mean the beer is bad or is it the taste buds?

The comments definitely can't be put in the positive column either. I am just sick of the negativity. I don't understand the need for somebody to post negative comments on a public board about a beer and/or the brewery.

Off flavors and infections are two completely different things.

If you are implying the beer is fine because it "tests" fine, then I guess there area whole bunch of people on here (and elsewhere) with bad taste buds. Hell, my wife took one sip of one the Night Trains and immediately asked me, "what the hell is wrong with that beer?" She doesn't even drink beer like I do.

Errr... an infection is caused by an influx of bacteria that spreads.
An off-flavor is basically a matter of personal opinion. Completely separate concepts.

As a side note, I thought all the variants tasted great, but really wished it had carbonation. Some people had a different experience, due to the area of the barrel where the bottles were filled from, but there is no reason to spread wrongful information about infection problems.

They screwed up by not using a good enough yeast and a crappy batch of barrels. They did not accidentally infect the beer. Please put this nonsense to rest already...

I bought tickets for some O'so bottles. The BBCD they served in January on tap was delicious.

If I'm not impressed, I'll just think about the all the super-affordable Night Train that I've been drinking on a regular basis for the last several years.

Sometimes I spend $25 on the special at a restaurant and wish I had just bought the usual $15 dinner that I love. That's kinda how I look at this.

If they hadn't had issues, I may have bought 10 tickets instead of 4. But I'll still happily go up there and drink some pretty tasty beer and bring a few bottles home to hopefully enjoy at a later point.

I think the simplest way to look at it is that the BB Night Train variants that were sold at the brewery and put out into the mass market were poor representations of the beer that they actually wanted to go out because of the lack of carb and the varying off flavors. They could have recalled the beer, but they didn't. Plenty of other breweries have dumped beers and recalled bottles.

I hope that these beers are amazing, but it's more than fair to be cautious about this release. Nobody wants to waste money.

If your wife doesn't drink beer then how would she have any reference to what the beer was supposed to taste like? LMAO!
