I think you guys are forgetting the plethora of better lagers available to us in this great city. signed, person who walked to the corner store and picked up some Jack's Abbey last night. I haven't been paying attention to the various changes to their release schedule and instagram - are they dropping old stuff again today? I am going to be in the area.

At least Threes and Interboro haven’t given up on the lager/pils
Sure, Threes makes better ones too, but my point is that hundreds of people came through, many maxing out but it seems most (many) didn’t even grab one to try? I’ve enjoyed OH’s lagers when they’ve appeared, even if they’re not “the best.”

That IAL Red Wine was freaking amazing. I think I have a bottle still

Love the troll name on that stout.

If crickets was $12 i’d be all over it. As previously stated— too many better, cheaper alternatives

Definitely agree with that. I can buy Jack’s Abby for $11 a 6. Krombacher for $9 a 6. Veltins or Bitburger $6 for a 4. I’m not paying $14 or $16 for a 4-pack just because it’s local. I’ll hark to my inner @ecpho and also add, I’d rather my pilsner not be hopped to the nines either. I just want a straightforward pils with bread and snap.

The name of the stout is a line in a Beastie Boys song so I don’t think they’re trolling.

Trolling or not it’s aptly names for the recent discussions.

I just stick with alpenflo as my non-ipa easy-to-get easy-drinker.

Don’t get me wrong - I have the same reaction to some of the expensive local lager prices and also prefer Jack’s Abbey. And you guys are probably similar to me with your buying habits. I’m just saying it’s funny when you know some people are dropping hundreds of dollars but then say, “we’ll, I’m skipping the pils because it’s $2 more than I want to pay.”

Edit - also enjoy the Alpenflo and price of it.

Lol yeah they’re not brewing the Pilsner for that crowd. I really enjoyed the Italian pilsner. Picked up four packs on repeat visits.

I don’t know why but Alpenflo has been hard to find. When I saw it, I bought it. I definitely enjoyed it. It’s not Augustiner, but for an American-made Helles, definitely respectable.

I’ve seen it in six packs recently instead of the bigger amount it first showed up in.

You could also pick up $10 4pks of Barrier's Imposter Pils or Icculus Kolsch if you need a non-IPA fix. I wish more of Jack's Abby Kellerbiers made it down here.

Went to the taproom last night. Talk about a party scene. Only a few beers on tap without lactose. Disappointing and not a pleasant experience.

Yeah tbh nothing is like fresh Augustiner but this’ll do. It’s always in stock at at least one corner store that’s a few minutes from me.

I follow them on IG so I know Shipping out of Boston and Franconian Kraft were just released in the last month but I definitely haven’t seen them yet. I still have 2 cans of Modern Hell kicking around.

Im cool with other half just specializing in ipa’s and pastry stouts. I think they get a little too crazy with the lactose treatment. It’s almost becoming a truffle-oil like add on for ipa’s. Especially in combination with the oats, if they want to specialize in fruit juice kettle sours, that’s cool as well. Lord knows what happened with Lembeek 86.

Industrial Arts Metric is up there as far as other local options, albeit it's on the pricey side for a pils. Also, since Rozzom isn't here to say it, "Suarez makes the best pilsners in the state."

Unfortunately I’ve had a very limited experience drinking Suarez so far.

Last time I was at the JA brewery I bought over a case of various Kellerbier, really hoping for a work trip up to Boston soon.

If I lived anywhere near that brewery, I’d be a regular there. Hell, I’d ask for a job there.

Doesn’t bash you over the head with Nelson, which is a bit surprising to me, but it’s still a really, really solid DIPA. I’m so happy I’ve had all this OH on hand, they are definitely the standard bearer when it comes to (D)IPA.
