Wow. I assume they make another batch?? You know, for proceeds and all? Or is it a limited edition sort of stuff and now you can resell it on the mule-market and donate your proceeds to local hospitality industry.

Glad I picked up a 4-pack today. Was shocked to see the two limit, that's like anniversary level.

A strict limit for a benefit beer in these desperate times is a nice touch. However much they made with this batch, it allows more people who wish to be charitable in some small way—and can afford to be—to do their part.

This pattern will need continuous reinforcement with countless people struggling, but it's encouraging to think of the many thousands of dollars that have been raised for hard-hit hospitality workers already by this one mechanism alone.

We may find fault (worthy or not) with much of what they do, but I tip my cap to Other Half for leading this charge. It's providing a direct and necessary benefit to an untold number of lives.

Today we release a special collab that we are very excited about with @taconic_distillery

This Other Half exclusive whiskey is barrel proof, unfiltered, maple syrup cask finished bourbon. Aged for three years and hand selected by Other Half for its rich, bold, and smooth character. This is the same high rye recipe that earned Taconic a 92.5 rating in Jim Murray’s Whisky Bible. 100% NY State ingredients. 115 proof, 750ml, $80 a bottle.

The crew at Taconic Distillery make some very special liquid and do one heck of a job to showcase the amazing raw ingredients available in the great state of NY. We couldn’t think of a better partner to do our first in-state barrel pick with. Extremely limited bottling. Available for delivery.

I just ordered one for curbside pickup, but the post says available for delivery. Anyone know if I can walk up to pick it up? I havent been to OH since all this madness started.

I've been ordering curbside and just walking up to pickup. I only prefer this to ensure availability. I don't know why you wouldn't be able to walk up though. They still accept orders.

Hmmm... same price as Elijah Craig 12 year-old Barrel Proof -- which was the 2018 whiskey of the year from Whiskey Advocate. This is a bit steep if you ask me. I would consider this for say $50-60....

Anyone see NBC nightly news tonight? Other Half featured as a recipient of a small business loan from the stimulus package...claims to have furloughed two dozen employees.

Considering they bought back from private equity and have been significantly expanding while printing $$$, I'm not surprised they had a furlough when it looks like it'll be a very long time before they can have a super crowded taproom paying big money for draft beer, which considering the markup has to be a very significant portion of their revenue.
Few companies can afford to weather this while keeping employees whole. They don't strike me as having tremendous cash reserves.

    Yes, I saw that too.

And if Other Half keeps all those employees on their payroll, providing them with some stable income and the promise of future employment, then they shouldn't have to repay the loan. It's a win-win for everyone. And some rare good news in these troubling times.

Our government has a long way to go before small business and individual support is increased to remotely adequate levels, but this story made me a bit happier when I thought of some friendly faces I haven't seen at the brewery since early March. I hope they're all okay, even with this help...
