Is it going to be rebranded Double Forever Simcoe now that the Forever series is a bunch of 6.5ers?

It's the time of year when our new crop of hops start to come in, and we often have multiple lots of specific varieties. We love seeing the difference from lot to lot, and in this case the different lots also come from different farms. ⠀
    ⠀
Dank Squares is an opportunity for us to highlight those differences for you. We're kicking off this new series with Strata because of how different the lots were from each other, while both being amazingly aromatic and interesting. ⠀
    ⠀
The label is representative of one of the common methods for presenting what is called a "brewers cut" of hops, a block of hops wrapped in purple craft paper. ⠀
    ⠀
Pick up both version of Dank Squares in the taproom today, starting at noon, along with a fresh batch of HDHC Small Mosaic. We hope you enjoy exploring the difference between our lots and maybe you can pick out blends we do in the future. #staytuned for Mosaic, Citra, and more to come in the future...⠀
    ⠀
Dank Squares: Strata Lot 1 IPA (7.5%) Big bright tropical fruit with that unmarked backroad Humboldt county finish. $18 per 4 pack.⠀
    ⠀
Dank Squares: Strata Lot 2 IPA (7.5%) Creamy Strawberry with that freshly opened zip lock kick at the end. $18 per 4 pack.⠀
    ⠀
HDHC Small Mosaic Everything IPA (6.5%) Slightly more manageable but no less flavorful than its big sibling All Mosaic. Smaller but with all the Mosaic Cryo and Mosaic Incognito you could need. $20 per 4 pack.

Picked up Strata Lot 2. Didn't like it at first but enjoying the second half of my glass. Strongly recommend letting it warm to broaden the palate. For a straightforward, single hop IPA I think it's on of OH's most unique. Fruity start but big dank finish, very lean and bitter.

I didn't get to try any of the All Strata beers so maybe this is more like them? Not like C+S or others I've had with Strata.

Excited for the upcoming brews with freshly delivered hops!

Excited for all the discussion around which batch was better! And everyone creating just enough FOMO for @jrnyc to get sucked back into the fray.

Our last releases of 2020 include a brand new collab, a new beer with Phantasm, and an OH classic. Order these three using the link in bio for pickup today starting at noon. We're also open from 10-6 on NYE and noon-6 on New Year's Day if you want to start 2021 out right. Thanks for all your support over the weirdest year in our history, and cheers to what's ahead in the New Year!⠀
    ⠀
Flip Phone Holster Imperial IPA (8.0%) w/ Hidden Springs Ale Works. A follow up to Beeper Codes, our OH FLX collab. Moving a handful of years forward with some classic flip phone attire. Keeping those dockers hanging low with that weighty motorola flip phone clipped to the braided belt because that important call is coming in hot. What hops are in this beer? I tried to text you Mosaic, Strata and Cashmere but I just don't have time to send texts that take 5 minutes. $18 per 4 pack. ⠀
    ⠀
Dank Capsules Imperial IPA (8.0%) with Phantasm. Continuing our exploration of maximizing thiol (think tropical fruit character) contributions to our IPAs this time with Citra as the main driver but with a relatively classic dank hop Columbus along for the ride in just the right amounts. $20 per 4 pack. (Available at 2pm)⠀
    ⠀
DDH Mylar Bags Imperial IPA (8.8%) Amarillo, El Dorado, Citra, Mosaic, and Galaxy. One of our absolute favorites. $20 per 4 pack. ⠀

Drinking C+S courtesy of @algebeeric_topology (who also called a last minute audible and sent me some ACE too #legend).

I know this is a classic millennial new money hazeboi thing to say, but while this is really tasty it is not the unicorn that the OG batch was. You can tell straight off the bat just by the look of it, even before smelling/tasting.

In a way I’m happy. B1 will be one of those little 2020 silver linings / good memories in an otherwise dodgy af year.

I bought both Dank Squares this afternoon. Picked them up and got home only to realize the Lot 2 was swapped with the Flip Phone Holster - which in fairness is a really similar logo. Here's to hoping Flip Phone Holster is the beer of the year and not any indication of what madness 2020 has become.

They were also wrapping large format bottles in custom wrapping paper down at the warehouse. No clue what that was about. Happy New Year all.

While our normal New Year's celebrations won't be happening this year, we are keeping one tradition alive - the Other Half Worldwide Magnum toast! ⠀
    ⠀
This year at 3pm EST on NYE we're hosting an Instagram Live with all the participating locations to toast the end of this (very long) year. ⠀
    ⠀
We have a very limited amount for sale at all locations, @otherhalf.flx @otherhalfdc@otherhalfdominopark they are $60 each are for sale at 6pm today via Curbside Pickup (link in bio), and have to be picked up by 1pm tomorrow. ⠀
    ⠀
The beer is a blend of BA Snowbirds 4 and Snowbirds 5, conditioned on toasted pistachios, roasted marshmallow, and pistachio marshmallow shortbread cake from @shortbreadsociety ⠀
    ⠀
Please enjoy safely and have a great New Year. We wish we were able to celebrate with all of you. We figured a cat says happy New Year best, thanks @lorenzothebeercat⠀

Just FYI all HS points expire if not used by 12/31... use 'em or lose 'em.

Drinking a flip phone holster now. I’m liking it. Light for 8% but not lacking flavor.

Just what everyone needs. Magnums of a pastry stout to celebrate a holiday you shouldn't be doing a bottle share for. Hats off to anyone with a significant other or roommate who wanted some and has an insulin hookup.

I mean, it's always about chasing the dragon no? The first sand city collab, back when you had to line up before opening, was amazing, and I didn't get there till 1130 I think with some friends, and foolishly only bought a four pack. Tried the remake.. good not great. B1 was better etc...I look forward to being disappointed by 4th anniversary.

I agree, Citra + Strata is just fine, but fairly unimpressive. It has a pretty intense pithy citrus / floral thing going on, like walking through an orange grove. Not necessarily a bad thing, but a lot of my favorite qualities of Strata are absent (creamy strawberry, juicy grapefruit, dank earthiness). Also it's over a week in the can, but I'm still getting quite a bit of that Citra arugula astringency.

Perhaps I'm overly picky. But I know what OH can do and this is significantly worse than I was expecting. But I'm a sucker for their HDHC, melon-saturated juice bombs, so what do I know.

Exaxtly. “Sharing” a beer with the wife means pouring her 2 oz, drinking the rest, and then finishing hers later. No pastry magnum for us.

If someone buys me a bottle of this, I will do my best to get @jrnyc to take a video chugging it. There's no guarantee he won't spit it right back all over my iPhone and then proceed to pummel me back to the smoky fields of Waterloo, but that's why Tim Cook gives iPhones BK195-level sugar resistance.
