Still blows my mind that you can get a mixed 12 pack shipped to your door in western Virginia, but I can't buy a mixed 12 pack at the brewery.

I guess I could get these 12 packs shipped to my apartment 2 miles away from the brewery, right? Is there anything preventing that (besides them selling out instantly)?

The conflicted vibes you’ve been giving off recently are palpable. Yeah nothing to stop you shipping despite being close. Grass is always greener - and I get the attraction of the mixed anni pack - but give me the optionality of the brewery/delivery experience vs the mixed shipping packs, any day.

No conflicting vibes here. I've always said I think they have a less-than-ideal system for locals getting beer (especially during a pandemic), and a variety of beers at that. Your options are to a) go to brewery where they only sell by the 4-pack, b) get local shipping in which you have to buy a whole case or c) buy a mixed 12-pack which is naturally going to have some duds in it. I guess DP sells by the can, but for practically on-site prices.

I'm obviously in a unique situation, pretty close to the brewery, no car and no one to share beer with. I know OH doesn't cater their sales to me specifically, but there's a lot of odd quirks in the system.

I’m in a similar boat. I live within walking distance from BK Taproom. However; with a toddler (and another baby on the way any day now), I don’t find myself drinking more than 5-6 beers a week. Makes it very hard to decide which 4-packs to commit to.

Lately I have been finding myself getting overwhelmed with the entire selection and buying some High Life instead.

Wrong forum post but as a NJ resident and fellow parent, if I could I would be ordering Suarez and their low ABV and in the meantime demand Gowanus do split 4s! Don't waste liver on high life when palatine can be yours.

Initially quick take on First sip: and 7th is their best anniversary beer since ‘04 I want to say. Super smooth and I’m sure will develop better.

I also didn’t thoroughly check my beers when I picked up and I got trunk bait instead of HDHC citra with phantasm. Damn it

BA Bananaversary is quite good. Most of my notes are relative to the ET maple barrel banana stout (which is strangely still available! If you're turned off by price, note that OH's BA Bananaversary was 1.75 per oz. Those little cans are 1.125 before shipping!)

Fresh banana is the biggest flavor. I'm really enjoying what I think are the macadamia nuts; they add a pleasant sweetness that isn't cloying. The barrel is there but isn't overpowering like I thought it was with the most recent BA Snowbirds. There's a lot of booziness on the finish as the beer warms (My question is always, "Why does OH need to make these beers 3-4% higher others like Angry Chair and Equilibrium?"). The body isn't super thicc. While I think that worked against the 7th anny stout, I think it actually helps this beer.

Love everything I can get from Suarez. Incredible beers. Having said that, I do legit love High Life and consider it an excellent & delicious beer. Very few things taste better than an ice cold High Life bottle after I put my kid to bed for the night.

Tried 7th today. I know it’s not HDHC, but it reminds me of a lot of the HDHC triple citra daydream they brewed this summer. I thought it was solid, but wasn’t blown away and think sitting might do it good. My wife really liked it though.

I also had the Snowbirds Straight from the Barrel yesterday. I loved it. It was a bit “spicy,” but in a good way. It hit you up front, but was rich barrel flavor and mellowed out at the finish. Wish I had another.

Looks like OH fixed the Bananaversary issue on Untappd

Also, when are we getting 4th?

    My thoughts on BA Bananaversary.

First impressions: Very good. I let it warm for about an hour out of the fridge. Right out of the bottle, there's not much adjunct character in the aroma, mostly barrel, spirit, and chocolate notes. If I was smelling it blind I'd suspect it had cacao nibs as an adjunct. It has that kind of chocolatey acidity/tartness.

Flavor, I get a huge pop of wild Thai banana right up front. It's not out of control though, and doesn't overwhelm the other ingredients. It just works with the boozy stout base and is supremely drinkable. Coconut comes off more as a generic oiliness, except at the very end when I get some of the toasted notes. Could also be the macademia nuts, which I imagine were also toasted.

As the beer warms the nuttiness becomes more apparent. It starts to smell more and more like banana nut bread with chocolate chips, all doused with bourbon. Yum!

Mouthfeel is thick and velvety without being chewy. I think at this ABV I'd prefer something a bit chewier, but that's just personal preference. This is really quite impressive. I'm struck by the complexity and how it morphs as it warms up.

Has anyone actually tried wild Thai bananas and know what they taste like?

Good question but we’ve covered this before...wild bananas have many hard seeds making them pretty much inedible. But they taste damn good in a stout!
