They have a location on Washington, near Rector Street behind Trinity Church and the old American Stock Exchange :

If someone told me there were over 100 people in line at open today I'd be really surprised.

Seems like one of the softer releases so far this year, which I don't consider a bad thing.

I have to say I hate Clinton Hall. Service is usually awful, it's always crowded after work, and the bathroom lines are just insane. Outdoor seating is also hardly outdoor since it's under permanent scaffold. That said it's definitely an option but I'd go to Treadwell between the two.

The other Clinton Hall at the seaport is nicer .

10:15, no line, plenty of everything. It's a new world and I like it!

Clinton Hall once held an OH tap takeover so I think they would usually get some regular OH offerings.

I don’t think that really constitutes an easy after-work-pint location. Probably talking the best part of an hour round trip plus a train change. That means most places in manhattan and the more accessible parts of queens/Brooklyn are in play too.

Has Hop Showers always had this weird overlap of label and warning? I don't remember seeing it on the black cans of yore but those were printed I believe. It just looks off.

Murphy’s Tavern is a good beer choice near WTC, though a 10 minute walk. Their BeerMenus pages is usually up to date. Underdog on Stone Street usually has a pretty interesting list as well, which they update on Untappd.

Not sure about the black printed cans, but the labels have all been the same since they switched over to them. I agree, it does look off.

This batch of Hop Showers could be the best OH beer of 2018. Hop Showers was the first OH beer I ever had back in 2014 and continues to be my favorite.

Don’t get me wrong I love hop showers, but I feel like in this thread it’s got to the point where there’s definitely some “purists” cachet to saying hop showers is your favourite OH beer.

“Nah I’m not interested in that new double dry hopped lactose citra cashmere motueka trill collab. I’m a hop showers man. I also chop my own firewood”

I’m hoping this week. An unlabeled bottle was being passed around the VIP room at the Forever Summer Fest down in Richmond.

Ouch, some truth to that, well done my pecking friend  ! Looking forward to hopefully @BoardwalkBock being 5 or 6 Hop Showers in when he replies to your post  !

We missed you yesterday Tom at OH and Sixpoint, hopefully next time.

Haha I wasn’t dissing @BoardwalkBock - his post just reminded me to peck away at a trend I’d noticed. But yeah when he’s back from surfing and eating the sausage he ground himself from the remnants of the buck he shot yesterday while bow-hunting, then yes I expect to take some shit in return

I work in WTC. My top two recommendations for you which are both less than a 5 minute walk from 4WTC (not sure which building you’ll be in):

Clinton Hall (NOT the one at the Seaport. It’s a very different beer list than the one by WTC). You want to sit at the bar and hopefully get a fellow named Brad. He’s the buyer there, a nice guy and he knows his stuff. As noted by someone above, the service usually sucks, especially when it’s busy. Stick to the bar if you can and you’ll avoid that issue. I’ve never actually seen OH here though. As a general rule, the wait staff does not know anything about beer, other than the fellow I mentioned above and probably other bartenders. Menu updated on Untappd.

Malt House - Maiden Lane. They always have a decent NY selection as indicated on their menu by blue color. The staff is also not that knowledgeable about the beer. They do get OH. Menu updated on Beer Menus. You’ll want to use this because their actual menu is almost impossible to read.

If you’re on here I figure you’re probably not someone who needs much assistance from the bartender with your beer choices, so lack of knowledge I mentioned above should be a non issue for you.

Let’s grab a beer once you’re settled in.

Watch out Malcolm, a mob might be forming against you, tar and feathered woodpecker could be on the menu ! I might need to petition mods to reinstate my post to rally the masses. Also, I met some artists this weekend far more talented than @frozyn, I might be able to do some incredible damage with some world class artist support !

I'll be in town the last weekend of September. Is this more of the status at OH on Saturdays these days? As in if I wasn't worried about maxing out on everything but just wanted to grab a couple 4 packs of hops is it safe to show up ~2PM on a Saturday and safely expect not to get shut out?

Yeah, unless it’s some kind of crazy collab, 11 AM is the sweet spot for not waiting in line but still getting everything, by 2PM you should be fine to get something, they just might sell out of one or two of the 4-5 releases. And that’s worst case scenario.
