Really nice sweetness to the El Dorado! I'm definitely getting the smoothness that @aecliptic described. It's the least abrasive beer I think I've had by OH.

I'm probably in the minority here but El Dorado is my least favorite of the single hop series. Def get that smoothness but to me the hop is lacking in aroma and flavor and the what i do get is very vegetal. I dont get that big flavor/aroma or juiciness that I did from Nelson, Citra, Mosaic, Amarillo. Still very good just very subtle, seems like the hop might work best in a supporting role.

Just said the same thing on Untappd. Not getting anything in the way of fruit...

In some regard, its subtlety makes you wonder if it's doing much or just being overpowered as a supporting hop.

They mentioned to pretty much everybody who asked that the Trillium collab is happening next. It'll appear on fbook/twitter/instagram some time the week of

Why does every IPA have to have the fruit aroma/flavor? Drink OJ if you want fruit.

I don't get this new obsession with IPAs that taste like fruit juice. I first got into IPAs because I loved the bitterness, resin and pine flavors.

Not bashing on you at all just don't understand why recently when an IPA doesn't taste like a tropical fruit bomb people give it a bad rap...

Hahaha heaven forbid OH makes a beer that we don't all love. I, too enjoy a bitter/resinous IPA--but when the hop profile is described this way:

This hop has bright tropical fruit flavors and aromas of pear, watermelon, and stone fruit.

I'd expect to get some sort of an aroma that contains fruit--that's what I was looking for. Didn't find it.

To me, it isn't that there's no fruit, it's just that the fruit is much more subdued than say... amarillo or mosaic. I feel like I get a nice little bit of cherry.

Honestly once El Dorado warms a bit it's pure orange juice.

I think the reason I like El Dorado so much is because it's not a complete tropical fruit bomb. As much as like tropical fruit-heavy IPAs, El Dorado is balanced quite nicely with earthy/grassy notes. Really hits the spot.

AGE is AGE, its good as always. Eldo was bitter for me at first, didn't get the trop that much, which was fine. I still dig it and think it's a solid single hop. Best way i can put it - it grew on me as I drank it. But that Betty Crocker doe.. dayum. And for those ppl bitching about mules or girlfriends/spouses, deal with it. jesus. its old.

honestly though man, go to any releases these days and you will see people who hire randos off of craigslist, pay them hundreds of dollars just to get extra allots.. it's not new. afaik bullfrog, tiredhands (para), it happens.. I waited 5 hours for a release once and got shut out 10ft from the door, then had to read online about certain people paying others to get them extra.. not really much we can do about it.

Nobody is paying a rando HUNDREDS of dollars for (let's assume 2x$90 case) $180 allotment of OH beer. It isn't worth $10 a can. That's Heady/Tree House territory and even if you think OH is there, which I do, it isn't on either mbc. I get that this thing happens on more limited bottle releases with smaller counts, but OH cans are released every 2 weeks in volume. Oh, you'd like some All Green Everything? Come back in 4-6 weeks when we bring it back!

valid argument and point. i agree. i still don't waste breath (or keystrokes) on bitching on forums about the muling anymore. it will happen and basically i accept it. nevertheless, that isn't what this thread should be about. I like OH, you like OH, OH is good, OH is tasty, let's keep drinking OH!

Woo, cheers to that! I've been up here (from Florida with access to CCB) for going on 3 years now and I'm just superbly happy with what the NYC beer scene is becoming. This past Saturday we had THREE beers worth waiting in line for, OH cans, VOL at Gun Hill, and Plan Bee at Union Square. All that is awesome.

Amen. I'm definitely on that Grimm train though, can't get enough of their brew. I haven't been able to snag any of the Gunhill or PlanBee, although i was very intrigued with the finback sour can release but alas yesterday i was pressed for time.
