Is there anything else worth checking out in that part of town? I’ve been exploring Chicago one occasional weekend at a time while my son’s at Columbia. Loving the food, book stores, record shops, cafes and of course breweries.

It's not the best of neighborhoods. Monochrome Brewing and Duneyrr Fermenta are both great and are probably a 10 min drive. Marz Brewing is close by but they have fallen off some. As far as food, I haven't explored much just because the neighborhood isn't great. OH Ramova actually has solid food. Chinatown is pretty close. And there are endless taco spots which I am sure some are great.

What has been good lately, been a bit since I have been to the tap room or had any OH beer but likely going to be in Brooklyn for a few this weekend. Will keep an eye on what comes out this week but anything recent I should certainly try to grab?

Have you attended either of the previous years? I just happen to be in NYC on Dec 7 with no plans currently. Just wondering if you(or anyone else reading) would recommend this event based on previous years.

    Thanks in advance!

I’ve attended both previous Stout Fest. They were a lot of fun. Lots of stouts to drink but they have a few change of pace beers and plenty of water available. Lines haven’t been too long at any of the tables. I’ve had VIP access so I went to what I wanted before general admission so I can’t speak for lines after the ViP time too accurately.

I would assume that it will be the same setup as Green City. Bar has a bunch of beers on tap, more breweries set up in the front of the brewery, OG tasting room w beers on tap and more breweries setup in the courtyard. They usually post the beers a few days before. We are coming up from Philly for this. This will be my first Stout Season but have been to Green City and Pastrytown in years past.

I don't think there's an issue, so much as DC brewed beers tend to top out around maybe an 8/10. Brooklyn, when they hit, hit 10/10. The DC beers just taste a little different, and don't seem to be as good. But they aren't bad in any way.

The All Peacherine Everything is very interesting.
All the options sound good. I’ll try some tonight at Centre Street trivia night

tasted a few before buying a couple of 4s. big kiwi vibe was a favorite and the single hop nzh109 which tasted great but the nose was a bit too body odor-ish for me. the solo exhibition manilita while it was awesome to get to try this new and scarce variety, I wish they would've done the same thing like what they did with the nzh109, cause triples just aint for me anymore.

currently sipping on the superdelic green nuggets, and this is amazing. prob the best of what I tried.

    cheers!

Got a flight at other half DC yesterday. I liked All Peacharine everything and Double nectaron daydream. NZH109 didn't leave much of an impression, and Solo exhibition manilita was good, but didn't really have a strong nose. But I typically don't get or enjoy triples. Also had a pour of superdelic green nuggets which was great.

Did anyone try the current batches of Vapor Ringz, Brocpile or Space Broccoli? I know it's been a couple of years since the dirty galaxy era.

A liquor store in my area gets direct distributions of Other Half beers on a weekly basis. They post the details of the distribution on their social media. If I see something that interests me I make the trip and pick some up. The beer is always fresh, anywhere from a day or two old up to about two weeks old. Earlier this week they announced this drop:

    Citra + Galaxy $20/pack
    - DIPA w/Citra & Galaxy 8.5%

    Motueka + Galaxy $20/pack
    - DIPA w/Motueka & Galaxy 8.5%

    Juice Lovers $20/pack
    - DIPA w/Citra, Nelson Sauvin, & Simcoe 8.2%

    Nectar Diamonds $20/pack
    - DIPA w/Nectaron 8.5%

    Forever Ever $16/pack
    - Session IPA w/Cashmere, Citra, & Mosaic 4.7%

    Green Flowers $18/pack
    - West Coast IPA w/Chinook, Columbus Cryo, Nelson Sauvin, & Simcoe 6.8%

Nothing exciting, but I have enjoyed Citra + Galaxy in the past so I asked my wife to pick me up a 4-pack because she was going to be in the area. When she brought it home I was very disappointed to see it was dated 10/24/24. Certainly not the end of the world, but disappointing that Other Half would distribute old beer like that. And this has never happened to me before at this store and I've been going regularly for a couple of years. Check those dates!
