Maybe it's just a palate thing for you guys but I think GD tastes exactly like it used to, and also that it tastes damn good. Granted it's not NE style but I enjoy it.

    Out of towner question here:

I see that can releases are Saturday at 10am. Does the tap room open at that time for onsite consumption or does it open at 12 noon? I assume the taproom is a shiteshow when it does open?

It generally opens when sales start. And yes, it's a complete shitshow. It's tiny, though sometimes there's overflow into they're garage area.

Vanilla Cane Life is so damn good. As others have said there isnt much barrel character but damn the vanilla is prevalent and no complaints here! Should have grabbed another bottle damnit.

Missed this release so I'm thinking about grabbing a fill tomorrow but can't decide between DDH ACE and DDH Space Diamonds. Anybody have a favorite between the two?

I had a growler of ACE last night and it was unbelievable. I actually think regular ACE is nothing spectacular but this DDH versionis crazy good. Havent had SD yet but have a 32 I plan on kicking into tomorrow. I'll report back.

I bought a 32 of each yesterday. SD is great, but ACE is the clear winner for me.

On second thought do what I did. Get a 32 of both.

From what Ive heard online, they'll probably do 2 cans next Saturday followed by 4 cans the following. The last week in January has always been their anniversary release.

I forgot to say, I grabbed Vanilla Cane Life and the coffee version of In Absentia Luci.

Was very happy with the stout they have currently on tap, so it gave me a little more faith in their darker beers.

New beer in the distro looks like

Green Down to the Socks- 7.9%- Imperial India pale ale with Motueka, Mosaic, Cascade, and XJA hops.

Sorry if this has already been asked, but what the hell is the deal with all of their stouts still sitting around for sale? Are they not up to snuff?

I wouldn't say they are "world class" but by no means are they bad. Maybe price... they arenet exactly cheap. They are putting out a ton of cans and thats what people travel for so they go for those first and the stouts kind of get pushed to the side.

Speaking from personal experience when Im spending $75 on 4 4-packs its difficult for me to spend much more on stouts, I maybe pick up one bottle.

They're just "aggressively" priced, but understandably so for what tying up space in NYC might cost.

Most have been quite pleasant. The cinnamon cane life was really good if you like cinnamon! The Hazelnut IAL was awesome. I can't believe that beer sat(still sits?) as long as it did. All of the Orbits have been solid, though I prefer the base beer.

I'm crazy for the red wine IAL though I understand if not everyone is.

so.. just got back from a trip to boston with a visit to the trillium brewery in canton. Wow, what a space. Amazing what an easy experience it is to go and pick up some 4 packs without any hassle. Not that I mind the mild inconveniences of OH, but it made me even more excited for this new expansion in the hopes that it will make life a little easier for all of us OH loving beer nerds.

Having said that, I was slightly worried that all of these DDH beers I've been sampling (OH and Trill) may be ruining my palette. Like, they're just too good and it's going to make non ddh beers less appealing. But then I cracked a motueka-galaxy last night and reveled in it's 'less over the top' character. Man that beer is delicious. Similar melon nose and taste that the simcoe+wai-iti had over the summer, with maybe a little less bitterness.
