There's a ton of cinnamon and spice sludge along with the yeast at the bottom of my glass. Tasty stuff though. Less barrel, more heat as it warms. I'm interested in hearing how the coffee/coconut variant is. Someone around here has to be drinking all 4 tonight yeah?

That was the best OH can experience I've had in a long time. In & out in 5 minutes. Beautiful. If only the F train was running normally.

FYI/FWIW Covenhoven has all green everything & in absentia luci on tap, in addition to a who's who of NYC brews (Suarez, LIC, finback, gun hill etc)

Just opened a coffee/coconut...I'm liking this better than the vanilla, great balance, tons of coffee and nice amount of sweet from the coconut. Less barrel character than the vanilla, but this blended well, almost no heat. Taste is authentic, doesn't taste artificial like some other south Florida brews (FB)...

The cinnamon Cane Life was good. The cinnamon works well with the roastiness (why is every OH stout so roasty??), but the peppers don't make much of an appearance.

I was underwhelmed by the coconut. There's a little bit of a sweet, oily coconut flavor on it.

I'm drinking the vanilla now. It's fine. The vanilla on the finish is quite nice but the flavors up front are a little rough to drink.

I would say the cinnamon is the best of the three by a wide margin, then vanilla, then coconut. Also the nose on all of these is kind of weird.

Thanks for your thoughts. Usually I'm a sucker for coconut stouts and not all that fond of spiced ones, so I'll have to see if that holds true for these variants.

Really digging this Motueka+Galaxy right now. With all the DDH stuff they've been putting out, it's a nice reminder how good OH can be with the simpler combinations without hitting it over the top.

Having said that, I think I would enjoy a DDH'd Budweiser at this point if OH had anything to do with it.

I have now drank all the variants and they are very close. The good news is that the underlying BA stout is very good and the cane juice adds to the flavor. I think the "mex cake" is the best by just a bit. The cinnamon flavor is fantastic and makes the beer taste great, but the ancho chili peppers are non existent except for a slight bit of heat on the finish as the beer warms. Overall, this is the best lineup of stouts OH has done. I was disappointed with In Absentia, liked the Orbit variants (wish they had done more), but the Walefield collab leads me to believe that OH could be a powerhouse in stouts...lets see where they go!

I had only the straight barrel aged version of Cane Life tonight and agree with everyone else here that there's a great stout in there, but mine seemed a little hot on the finish. It's one of their best for sure. Will probably pick up at least one or two more bottles to cellar, if it only saves me the trouble of hoarding other more expensive/hard to get stouts to drink over the summer and into next fall (especially since I decided to forgo any BCBS bottles this year).

Arrived at 9:45pm but was rudely "greeted" with a "We're closed. What are you here for?"

It's great to know that closed at 10pm really means closed at 9:30pm.
