My palette was pretty destroyed by the time I tried No Layups yesterday. Having my 2nd can right now. Holy shit. This is insane. Cannot believe this is 8%. This is immediately up there as one of my favorite beers Other Half has ever brewed.

So anyway, Other Half is a hipster hole in the wall (in a good way). I enjoyed standing around and sampling their many beers. Again, though, I have to say that their beers were not nearly as hoppy as these threads led me to believe. Good place overall.

Pretty much every hoppy beer up on the board: all Citra everything, all dank everything, 007, Simcoe, telectroscopic, no lay ups.

Interesting. I've had all of those except for the Simcoe and found all to be pretty hop forward.

It could've been my palate for some reason but I didn't find them to be pungent like say, a Kane hop lab beer.

Drinking a No Layups now and as others have mentioned it is a Juice Bomb (not a Hop Bomb). Amazing this is 8%.
Anyone know why OH does all these Collabs though? Do other Breweries come to them? Seems like it would be more of a nuisance than anything else with the reputation they already have and the fact they can make these beers themselves without any other breweries involvement. Does anyone know "The Answer"?

I talked to Sam about the collabs and he says it's the best way to learn stuff from other brewers. Also it's better that craft brewers work together than not. Keeps the community tight.

To be fair - I think 4oz tastings are a terrible way to get to know a new beer, especially hoppy ones. After the first one your palette is gone and its hard to detect nuances from one beer to the other. You only get a few sips and then its done - maybe good for tickers only though.
Go for a 10-12oz glass and enjoy it for awhile.

I get your point but... I have had many flights and 4 oz is enough to give me huge taste (Kane as example). Not saying anything was bad but just not what I expected going in.

Im gonna agree with everyone else here and say that No Layups is probably the best OH beer I've had in recent months. (I've missed some) I hate the term juice bomb, but it really lives up to it. No alcohol for 8 percent.

What a great, hassle free release. Thanks for everyone on this thread, esp. @Kanger, for the line updates. Grits 'n' Green is tasting awesome. Another fantastic summer beer. Kicking myself for not grabbing more of it.

Agreed. This is the first time I've regretted not going to an OH release. I thought Grits n Greens and No Layups were fantastic -- def two of their best collabs to date

so is the general consensus going to be that 3 lighter "session" beers will not draw a huge crowd? I really enjoyed baby diamonds last canning and was hoping i could get some boogie board stuntz cans for the summer, but really can't do the "spend your whole saturday morning at other half" thing...

If this last release didn't draw a big crowd with a pilsner and two double IPAs, I cant see two session IPAs and a Kolsch drawing one. Wouldn't be surprised if all these cans last well into Sunday.

In anyone's honest opinion is it worth $16 for a 32oz fill of telestropic (and yes, I know I'm spelling it wrong)?

I will be stopping in at Other Half on 6/18 around 10AM (earlier if there is a can release that day) on the way back from a NE beercation.

How much in person trade activity has there been around Other Half cans? I'm planning to bring plenty of fresh Heady, SoS, plus take requests in advance for Trillium, Hill Farmstead, and Night Shift. Am I likely to find someone willing to part with a few of each of the cans from the previous few releases?

Looking forward to trying some things on draft at a minimum!

Yes, absolutely, plenty of people will jump at the chance to trade for those beers. Aside from Night Shift, all of those beers/breweries are superior IMHO.

I'm really kicking myself for not being able to make this release. Decided to take a trip to the Jersey shore, but thank god for Carton
