Throw some mo has really come together. Still plenty of bitterness but the tropical flavors are melding real nice right now.

 

Had one last night and thought the same thing. I'm really enjoying that beer.

 

Does anyone know if the standard oh IPA released this coming weekend is the standard or this new Ipa#3 version?

Yep, the list you get and others on this thread is way different than the ones beer buyers get. Those prices are inflated & include specialty stuff they're canning, differs from the regular distro e-mail.

 

So my old canning schedule said Mylar, but the new schedule does say DDH Mylar.

Standard. The new IPA recipes are still being tested.

DDH Forever Simcoe is just a hair behind DDHDMD on the ratings scale for me. No idea how that beer didn't sell out the first day it was available. Straight up dank simcoe juice, delish.

 

How long is an OH IPA/DIPA good for shelf life?? I have a dark corner closet in my apartment that is far away from heat, it is absolutely below room temperature because they are cold to the touch. And I was told by a fellow BA member that mine tasted skunked/straight up bad.

I had a leftover double mosaic dream around a week ago and it was fine, that is from a month ago. I've had an All Citra a couple days ago which is what 10-14 days and it was fine to me. I've had Grimm IPAs MONTHS later that still were good.

Are all of my OH beers going bad that quickly?! Am I supposed to have literally 50 beers in a fridge at all times? I'm lost. Is all my money just tossed away...

 

If this dark closet of yours is cold enough to store deli meat, cheeses, and other dairys you should be fine....but if it's just a regular chilly closet you'd put clothes in, get a fridge.....

but DMD does age poorly, mucho hop drop off at about 3 weeks on batch I had couple months ago.

 

I'm really confused because I've had a can or 2 of Grimm laying around, some Finback too, even a couple months old. Tasted 110% fine to me.

No the closet isn't cold enough for meats haha. I have a fridge and I always have 15-20 beers in it, I share it with my roommate so I can't put every last one in there. I obviously have some run off.

Is this just an OH thing due to the amount of hazy ingredients? As I said, other brands tasted fine to me.

My ACE is from a week and a half ago. There's no way a beer has a 10 day shelf life on it right?

 

Depends on the beer IMO. I've had 3 months Hop Showers and it was still far better than most shelf IPAs, and All Green honestly doesn't even peak until a month in.


Also, and I almost didn't say this for fear of increasing hype next time - this batch of DDHFS > DDHDMD. Crazy pants

 

I've found OH beers last much longer than other NYC breweries. Just my two cents.

I am just blown away that 8 days or so on a cold-ish shelf might ruin flavor already. That's disturbing...

I always thought a month or so on a shelf was fine, at leave I've never noticed a diff. I've had a few even longer. Fridge 1-3 months. GENERALLY speaking.

 

You mentioned that it tasted bad to a friend. Did they taste bad to you? Has this friend ever had OH, is it possible he just didn't like it? Maybe it was a bad can, how did other cans taste?

 

I was not with him at the time to try it as I gave him the can. I had an All Citra a few days prior, tasted fine. I drank a DMD 3 weeks out, tasted fine. I put one in the fridge last night from the shelf and will try this afternoon.

I guess it's all subjective? I haven't read one thing in a thread that says 8 days is ruining a beer. I've seen 2 weeks, I've seen a month, I've seen 6 weeks. In a fridge 3 months to 120 days.

 

Pretty much accurate about anything ever said about anything on this site. It must be really stressful to worry so much about what your beer is going to taste like on a certain day.
