Like I said, I've never found a taste difference personally after a few weeks on a shelf. I'm just more worried about am I spending plenty of cash and not getting close to the full benefit of them, because let's be honest, it's not cheap haha! I also don't want to be trading these and have people be complaining my 8 day old stuff tastes like shit. My lifestyle/schooling unfortunately does not allow me to drink two 8% beers every night. I wish:grinning:

That's why I only buy enough beer that will fit in the fridge. I would never buy beer and let it sit out.

Tough when I share a fridge haha. Making an hour+ trip to OH and spending $40 a day after you bought 4 Grimm cans on top of whatever leftovers you have just doesn't fly with roommate putting 30 in the fridge. Damn!

I hear ya man, I have to share my fridge with my wife. She likes to put food in there. So frustrating.

In all seriousness. How many cans do you put in your fridge if he puts 30 in there (30 pack?)? If he's putting coors/miller etc in there, you should have priority IMO.

    Sorry for the bad wording!!

I usually have I'd say 15 beers in the fridge. If I put everything I have at all times in the fridge (ex: 30 cans) that'd be taking up a shit ton of room and won't fly with him. He comments enough that we always have "so much beer" in the fridge. He isn't into the craft deal like me.

It's pretty much impossible for me to have every beer cold in my fridge. OH only sells 4 packs, 2-3 releases each Saturday. Plus Grimm, and I love me some Finback. Plus whatever randoms I grab too. Hence I keep a good dozen to 15 in there at once. My schooling doesn't allow me to be drinking 2-3 DIPAs a night. So I get some overflow, not on purpose. Hence some beer on the shelf. And someone telling me 8 day old stuff tastes like shit. Hence my post here!

IMO, I would try to keep as much of your beer in the fridge as possible. I'm not 100% sure the shelf life of IPA/DIPAs are out of the fridge but to be safe I always keep my beers cold. I buy cold, put them straight in the fridge. I kinda get paranoid with temperature with beer, that's why get sketched out buying Grimm cans. A lot stores usually sell it pretty much straight out of the truck (off the truck, break up the 4 pack then sell individual). Especially in the summer time, I just don't take the risk because of the price tag of these beers. Maybe invest in a mini fridge of some sort? I know it's a pain with electric bills but, at least you can have beers cold in your room at all times lol.

I keep IPAs in my closet for up to a month at a time and notice no real difference from those in a fridge. After a couple months, maybe the difference is more noticeable but definitely not in the first 3-4 weeks. #apartmentlifestlye

Coming to NYC this weekend. Anyone know if 3rd Anniversary is still kicking around anywhere? I know its a little older right now, but I had 1st and 2nd and will accept some maltiness to keep my streak alive. Staying in lower Manhattan but anticipating going over to Brooklyn as well. No issue traveling for it. And yes, checked BeerMenus, wasnt much help. Thanks!

Beermenus might be of some assistance. But your best bet is probably to setup a trade

Most bars in the area, especially the ones that get top notch beers, regularly update their beermenus. If its not showing up on beermenus theres a 95% or higher chance it's not available anywhere.

That timeline doesn't sound out of whack to me. I still think DDH Broccoli is quite good and that must be a month or so now.

For everyone wondering. I just did a side by side taste test of DDH ACE. Now, Citra hops are supposed to age faster than almost any other hop too according to some posts here on BA.

I had one beer that was in the fridge since the day I brought it home. And one that has been in my dark closet, probably 60-65 degrees, for 11 days (3 days longer than when I was told it was skunked up), put it in the fridge to chill it.

Pour is the exact same. Same haze, same orange color. Smell, the exact same. Taste, the same to me. The difference I noticed, which I don't know if I would notice unless I was trying to notice was the mouthful. The fridge stored beer seemed a bit lighter, and the shelf beer was a bit fuller/heavier. OH always has a bit of a boozy/earthy taste to it (with some exceptions of course). Kind of harder to tell versus some grapefruit bomb transforming!

I'm going to put a month old Double Mosaic Dream in there to try tonight. That's hitting a month, but completely different flavor. We'll see!

I just had my can of Forever Mosaic from that weekend on Sunday, and it still tasted great. And, mind you, I drank a TH Doubleganger before it. I still have a Broccoli and DGD from that weekend, I see no reason why they won't still taste great.

I admire your tenacity here, but way too much thought being put into this. Buy beer, drink beer, be happy.
