This exactly!! It's not rocket science for how a brewery can come up with a reasonable allotment so that people don't have to line up hours ahead of opening (which supposedly the brewery doesn't want, which is laughable) to actually get a chance at the beer they are selling.

Maybe just stagger limits? First 50 get case then drop to 4, 3,2, 1-4pks as the beer gets low.

Off topic, but anyone in the know have information on whether or not Snowbirds' chocolate addition includes lactose? Wanted to share it with my wife, but dealing with a potential dairy allergy. Thanks!

So if you only grab a few four packs every saturday then you should agree that they lower the limits.

I do visit Interboro more than OH now and I purchase more Greenpoint and Industrial Arts. So you are not being antagonistic but telling me what I already do.

I’m not sure why people who arent local get so upset when I complain about allotment sizes. You can still line up and get beer and I can also roll in and grab beer. Double batches are a different story. This isnt some huge calculus problem to understand that 210 total allotments is too low considering the demand. Tired Hands, Sand City, EQ and countless others appeal to more than just people who have the time and money to wait in ljne every saturday.

I think it should almost be the opposite. Heavy limits up front and lower limits as the line dies down. If by 2PM there's still a lot of beer, up the limit to a case and let the mules drunk drive in from NJ and scoop it up.

With regards to the collab discussion, I also liked the Evil Twin Dare I Say, and wasn't Chimera also with some European brewery? If so I'd definitely add that to the winner's column.

That would def work but I’m sure there will be a general sentiment that that rewards lining up earlier and earlier. People outdoing each other to be in the top 50 spots. And even more consequences re: line cutting

They could also have two lines, a line for people buying a lot, and a line for people buying a little. For a 3-4 beer release, maybe do "under 1 case total" and "1 case and over"

Then they could do 2 or 3 small purchasers for each big purchaser

I really like that idea. But I think it would/should be a strictly one 4-pack of each beer line to keep it as black and white as possible

Does anyone know if there's a particular reason OH isn't transparent with the case counts they produce per release? Apologies if this was discussed in the past.

This is hilarious. Other Half is a business, not a socialist grocery store.

In theory this would work, but could possibly add confusion for the folks working the lines. Magnify does something similar to this. They will just cut the limit once (vs a stagger) where they can ensure people on line will still be able to get beer

Not so sure I agree here. Equilibrium does this already, and outside of people complaining today, this setup has worked very well. I've been up there several times, and don't feel the need to get there super early as I know if you are probably in the first 150 you will likely get at min, 4 4s.

At OH I think we would see what you are saying, but only for those people we are talking about in a negative light. The hazebros and whalezcrew would outdo each other to ensure they were there in time for a higher allotment, but that would not have an impact on most of the people on this board who would be happy with 2 4packs at noon. Looks like a win-win to me. The DBs have to waste more time to max out, so in a sense are punished, and we can leisurely grab some later in the day after they've cleared from the area.

I know... why doesn't OH just put cans in a cooler in the tap room and not post any release info. That will ensure they have ample supply 7 days a week. The don't do that because they want to sell the damn beer. Most of you don't realize that as long it sells out they don't care who gets it. The sell directly from the brewery so they can make a higher margin. If they wanted the masses to have the beer they would distribute cans into the wild and make less profit. I wish people would quick bitching about allotments. This is how they choose to run their business, they will only change it when there are no lines. Nothing is changing....

**** the only think I see that OH maybe able to do is set limits based on the turnout. Alot of the FL breweries to that for releases. They count the line 15min before and set the limits so everyone in line will get beer.****

*** to the person complaining about $1 per ounce 4oz pours, man up and get a full glass!!****

Got there at noon and picked up a growler of Cream Get the Honey and DDH Mylar Daydreams. It’s not cans, but super stoked to share these with my dad.

Also, this was my first time in the new taproom and it’s definitely a huge improvement. Hope to get back sometime in the not too distant future.

OH could do two quick things that I think would satisfy everyone on this discussion and basically not change a thing:

1 - Post case counts. They know how much beer they are selling, not sure why they can’t put that in the instagram post to help set people’s expectations/line arrival time. No effort at all.

2 - Cut limits to 3 or 4 instead of a case for a standard batch size (anywhere from 100-200 cases). This is also easy to do and basically ensures that 2x people will get beer from the release. Of course, bigger batch size = relax limits and let people buy more.

Not sure why they couldn’t do this now with little to no operational change.
