Missed out on the DDH cans but stuck around to grab a pint in the taproom. It's a beautiful beautiful beer.

Definitely a douchebag and selfish thing to do.

If they were holding bags of beer then presumably they didn't max out on the 4 case limit (unless they were huge bags haha). I dunno - goin the other way, it's possible they were being "more BA" than most and had only bought a couple 4 packs the first time round to spread it out more, and then went through again when they saw the line had practically gone. Like you say it's hard to tell.

But totally agree about the limit. Even if they halved allotments they'll still sell out guaranteed (even if it takes a couple days longer). I have no idea why someone would need 1500oz of hoppy beer from a place that releases every two weeks. And when I was in line the people walking out with 4 cases only seemed to drive a FOMO vibe through the line. Heard so much of "did you see that guy with 4 cases. Do you think it will last" etc

But then on flip side I'm sure OH have a rationale for doing it the way they do.

80 cases of Amarillo and 40 cases of AGE left. Pretty awesome for those who couldn't go yesterday

Haha I know, I learned not to go crazy with allotments. Like you said, hoppy beer and new ones coming out twice a month = don't buy too much. Not to mention $400 plus for four cases! Have to think they're splitting and/or trading.

I won't have a chance to drink any of my DDHDMD until Monday but based on what everyone is saying that can't come soon enough.

It completely blew me away. To say it's my favorite OH beer would be a big understatement. I always thought OH was hit or miss and not deserving of the huge praise they get from some people. But this is as good as stuff from treehouse / trillium etc...

amarillo needs a week or two to mellow out.

    • I think it'll definitely be better in a week or two but I'm drinking one as we speak and it's tasting really good. Nice balance between orange and pine notes

Am I the only one that was let down by this batch of AGE? Not as good as I remembered previous batches being.

I felt that way about the last batch of Green Diamonds. I didn't wind up getting any All Green this time around. Maybe we'll get All Green variants in the future.

I hope this ddh mosaic isn't a one time thing and is brewed as often as the other regulars

I think the DMD, dry hopped or regular, is a crowd pleaser. They'd be crazy to not keep brewing it.

True, but the regular IPA is terrible and doesn't sell but they keep brewing that.

BBS doesn't move either and that doesn't stop them.

They seem to do a good job with mosaic hops.

let's cross our fingers for Mosaic + Galaxy to come in the double hop series.

I can't speak for everyone, but it was the first OH beer I tried that I really liked. I think the hype on here comes from the fact that it's pretty good, pops up all over the city, and hasn't been canned yet (but keeps threatening to be).

I'm guessing they want to push as much beer out the door on that Saturday. Probably also helps to drive the hype and get people in line earlier if people think it could sell out quicker. Lesson learned, show up earlier.

Bigger allotments don't necessarily drive up the hype.

In my opinion, it seems allotment sizes are based on guaranteeing they get through the initial wave of customers that were in line. That's why Andrew comes out and counts bodies several times. If you showed up and waited, it seems to be the case that they genuinely want you to get what you came for. Beyond that, you're on your own. (Not all but) most of the commentators in this thread just don't want to wait in line. That's significantly different than not being able to.

I get that they could drop the allotment sizes and what I'm about to describe would still be possible, but it's my opinion most of us aren't getting max allotment. I want one to two cases to get me through the next month of drinking it and sharing with friends. When there were 2 beers available, I would almost max on each, with 4 beers this past week, I grabbed 4/2/2. Yes, there are some maxing, but watching people come out with cans, most aren't maxing.

Also, for several months now hasn't it been the case that you can casually stroll up an hour or three after release and get full allotment on each beer? If they were so keen on selling out, wouldn't they be increasing the allotment beyond the case?
