I know you are mostly joking but FWIW most of the guys doing #EpicBottleShares are probably from the city. Not easy to crush a few 10+% BA stouts at 10am when you have to drive back over the Verrazano

 

..and this is the biggest issue most of us have. They do drink 10%+ beers and drive back. There is an example form a few threads back of a guy bragging at Carton after he was at Other Half about his epic bottle share and how drunk he got. And its pretty easy to see that most people doing the bottle shares come with chairs/tables/coolers/radios which require a car to get there.

Edit: Im sure they are not all from Jersey but a lot of people drinking in line for 4 hours are getting in a car and driving after.

 

Jersey does get a bad rap though. I blame Long Island. I think Jersey is being framed.

 

Seems easy for NYC folk to pin that on an entire state. I'm sure that guy did that, and is from Jersey, but it was also 1 guy at 1 release. I've been to nearly a dozen and you'd probably think I'm from the city by my grim expression and Rangers gear (fuck the Devils)

 

Oh yea completely agree. It definitely isnt unique to people from Jersey.

 

I'm sure that this is true for a lot of the line, but I think some people are specifically referring to the #whalezcrew (not sure if I spelled it correctly, but this is the hashtag they use in their Untappd check-ins). If you look at Untappd the morning of a release, they are most definitely from NJ (you can see it on their Untappd info), and they routinely mention how they are first in line. Hopefully they have a DD.

Overall though, you're probably right that a majority of people drinking are from NYC and don't have to drive.

 

Oh man, do they? I don't survey Untappd that hard but that is really ridiculous. Something about using #hashtags when they aren't appropriate really makes me #mad. I go back on my original comment. All people from Jersey suck and we know it - sorry guys!

 

The guy bragging at Carton a few threads back is actually from PA if I remember correctly, he stops at Carton on his way home. he wears a Tired Hands shirt to every release

 

I'm anticipating the cops to address the public drinking again this weekend.

Yep that's the dude. Him and his wife (?) were bragging about how drunk they got at OH the morning of the 2nd anniversary release when I met them at Carton 3 hours later. They were alone. Both were drunk. I'm not a sanctimonius asshole in the least bit (I love to drink!) but drunk driving is fucking stupid. I know people who have died at the hands of drunk drivers. I have no respect for people who get bombed with the intention to drive home because they cant just wait a few hours to get back to their home/town to enjoy their beers.

I don't pin the drinking on line on people solely from jersey, but as someone said above, a lot of them that use untappd and tag stuff the morning of releases are from jersey.

People drink from all over. NYC people drink. LI people drink. CT people drink. NJ people drink. Just have a DD.

On another subject, Veldrijden Love was on tap at OH this weekend. Anyone know if they brewed another batch of this, or is it just a keg from the previous batch? I'm kind of hoping they brewed it again because I really liked it and would love to see it in bottles again.

 

I've committed to going. Hopefully between crap weather, no wow beers, and a third register I will be there for under 4 hours

 

LOL I thought whalezcrew was just a joke this whole time. Now I'm going to have to scour untappd Saturday for those check-ins.

 

Unfortunately not a joke, although it certainly sounds like a joke. That crew is there at 6am hammering beers on the streets of NYC.

 

Well as mentioned before, I hope they have a DD and clean up their trash. Respect the neighborhood.
