Other Half Brewing Thread (Feb 2016)

Buying alcohol from one place and selling it at a markup is kinda a no-no to the SLA.
Listen, I've never been to either store, I don't care, and I highly doubt any cops are perusing this thread or any thread on this forum, just trying to give you a heads up. Sorry, I guess.

Given the amount they had earlier I would be really surprised if it's all gone, but I can't say for sure.

Decent. I'd put it right in the middle of the OH single hop releases. Stacks on Stacks, however, is not to be missed.

 

Does anyone have a picture of the Other Half tap list board from yesterday?

 

When I left yesterday (around 4) it looked like this, except with AGE replacing Anniversary.

 

Anyone pop a Ab Luci Bottle yet? Wondering how it compares to draft.

I got 5 bottles yesterday but I have a bunch of fresh TH and OH hops in the fridge I feel like I should drink before. Definitely planning on cellaring a bottle or two as well.

 

AGE is great this time around. Never seen it this hazy.

Equinox is equinox. Still a good beer in the grand scheme of things, but my least favorite of Other Half's single-hop offerings.

Will report back on In Absentia Luci later this evening once I'm done studying and this lamb shank is out of the oven.

I've yet to try Equinox. Was really hoping for AGE on the 12th of next month's potential release(fingers crossed!!!), sad to have missed it. Maybe we'll get another batch?

 

Haven't cracked any of the recent AGE yet. Did it taste any different?

 

Interesting. I saw the picture on OH's Instagram of AGE and thought it looked hazier but figured it was the lighting. Was AGE on tap over the weekend?

Had to miss this release but curious to see how it's tasting compared to previous batches.

 

My scattered thoughts:

Chinook was very respectable and reminded me of Cascade.

I know I'm behind but - Oat OD was good! Preferred the first TH collabo though, I think.

Equinox is pretty good and has the signature OH single hop taste, but otherwise kind of unremarkable.

This is the best batch of AGE I've had and the can on day 1 was not hot in the least. I regret only buying 1 4pk.

 

Damn now I wish I had gotten AGE.

 

Just poured myself a fresh AGE. Wow.

Way hazier than normal. Aroma is incredible. Mouth feel is way different than the last batch as well. It's almost as if they mashed out at a completely different temperature and used a totally different water profile. Absolutely delicious. Still a full on hop assault and the malt backbone is still there, but I'm pretty stoked they are continuing to develop their already celebrated brews. This is drinking REAL nice.

 

Rub it in! They messed me up by opening at 830. Planned on stopping in around 1 or so but the cases left at that time wasn't worth the trip to be shut out. Got some tired hands and Kane stuff to satisfy me. Good to hear it's a great batch. I love some age. Props to the people standing out in that weather and to other half opening early to let them in.
