Other Half Brewing Thread (March 2016)

I think it's drinking very well. this is the first time i've having it, so can't compare to previous releases. Galaxy and Get Wheated are very good

 

I'm really enjoying it a lot. I think its more subtle than a lot of IPAs they brew and not a hop assault on your palate. Light bitterness and a very nice malt presence that lets you know its there but not the star of the show, great balance.

 

Actually drinking a Galaxy right now. I'm blowing through these quicker than my cans of Get Wheated. Definitely agree with the post above. This is very "soft" for an Other Half IPA. If someone blindfolded me and told me this was a Grimm IPA, I would have reason to believe them.

It also doesn't hurt that I'm a sucker for galaxy hops.

 

Definitely got the @Grimm_Artisanal_Ales notes right away on this one. I've been really enjoying it. Looking forward to see how it develops over the next couple weeks. If it's anything like the Citra cans, this is going to be a very delicious brew.

Seems like Double Mosaic Dream is on based off a few Untappd checkins.

Also, heard a few weeks back that we might see Stack on Stacks in cans.

 

The Other Half folks dropped off a sixtel at Noble Grains this afternoon while I was there. They haven't tapped it yet but looking forward to trying it.

 

What are the go-to lunch spots near other half? Heading there on Saturday and have only been there at night during the week and gotten drunk on an empty stomach. Looks like there are some decent options maybe 5-6 blocks north but curious for the regulars where you like to eat nearby, thanks

 

Buttermilk Channel is really good and it's a bit further but Prime Meats is awesome.

 

Prime Meats is excellent for Lunch/Brunch. I definitely recommend this place.

 

Sandwiches up at Court Street Grocers are money

 

I was originally picking up a lot of soft Grimm notes on these Galaxy cans, but after a couple days they are starting to show some serious signs of Treehouse Green (in aroma, taste and mouthfeel.) Galaxy is one of the primary hops for Green, so this makes a lot of sense. So damn happy I have a bunch more of these in my fridge.

 

wishing i picked up a few more 4 packs of galaxy. this is way better than equinox. love the grassy bite at the end.

out of curiousity when did galaxy finally sell out?

 

Unsure if next weekend is the best, or worst time to make my first visit to OH.

 

Probably the worst. All Citra sounds great. My fave hop for sure. I'm definitely skipping this release. I'm done with the 5hr other half lines

 

Is there a separate line for tap room consumption, or is that line interwoven w/ can line?

 

Its separate, but its get very very crowded during a release. A good number of people pick up their cans then head into the taproom for a pint and its super small so it gets tight. If you went in the evening after the release shouldn't be too bad.
