Other Half Brewing Thread (March 2016)

Drinking one of my last cans of Get Wheated. I feel like this one is falling off fast. The booze is showing and the flavor of the hops seems to be devolving into a generalized sweetness.

Anywho, I will be in attendance on Saturday.

 

Sipping on an All Citra Everything. Holy fuck. This is real real good. Ludicrous aroma. So easy drinking. The finish makes you want to immediately take another sip. Such a dangerous beer. Kind of bummed I'm gonna be missing the release this Saturday but having tasted this, I now know how much of a shitshow its really gonna be. Hope it pops up on tap again in the next week or two.

 

Interesting. I thought it was pretty good but not great. I prefer regular Citra. After tasting Superillo, Double Mosaic Dream and now this, I've always ended up liking the regular single hop better. So maybe it's my palate. I'm sure it will be on for growler fills after this weekend though.

For people looking for a bite before/after your OH visit, I stopped into La Slowerita on Court St for some really good tacos. Cool vibe and nice people.

New release is cool and all, I'll be missing that shitshow, but I gotta say, that Passiflora is delicious. Took a bottle to the dome just now and it was refreshing, flavorful, rich in flavors and all that jazz. I think OH gets pigeonholed as only IPA-capable, but I've now enjoyed a couple stouts and saisons from them that I really enjoyed.

 

Passiflora is awesome. I also thought Peachwood Aged was pretty crushable too. I wonder if they'd ever can a beer like that or they're just gonna stick to IPAs for the cans. Could see drilling a bunch of cans of those on a hot summer day.

 

Late to the discussion, but Tree House only has 2 terminals (one for cans and one at the door for growlers, merch, etc.). At least that was the way it was last summer. Think they probably deal with 2-3 times more people, if not more, than OH. So it can be done better and faster.

Add me to the few that aren't going to hit OH anymore. Don't have 4-5 hours to spend to get beer. Too many other options and things to do. Will enjoy them when I can.

FYI...I think tomorrow will be a 3....probably a 4 with the holiday weekend.

 

I wish they weren't so terrible at releases. I would absolutely love to score some ACE. I just can't justify standing in line from 8am till noon. That's a best case scenario too.

 

I agree with @ceburn, OH regular single hop beers are amazing...Mosaic IPA is my favorite from OH, I was really disappointed with Double Mosaic

 

Having my last Citra now and it tastes nothing like it did before. Not sure if it's what I ate/drank earlier or bad can or what. Very abrasive, little to no citrus, and a weird predominant mineral flavor. The previous cans in this batch were some of my favorite OH beers. Weird.

 

Idk if it's just me but I've been overly impressived with the last couple of batches from OH I've had. I wasn't a fan of stacks on stacks I didn't find it juicy like some of you guys did I thought it was too boozy. But double mosaic dream brettarillo the citra and galaxy batches have both been insanely good centrifuge or not, I started to wonder if they just now got their hops for the year or something considering all the double single hops they are doing.


That being said I wouldn't mind another batch of Amarillo or suparillo and I think we are done for another batch of nelsons. Idk if we'll ever see G is for green again but it would be awesome

Just remember, for every person who cuts that adds like an extra 5-10 minutes to your wait.

 

Funny....I woke up at 5:30, got in my car around 6, made it to the end of my street, said "fuck it," and turned right back around. I knew what I was in for, and @JoshVelez 's post makes me realize I did the right thing.

Plus I'm constipated. I have bigger fish to fry this morning.
