I'll be there Saturday around 1:45 - 2. Trying to not hang too long, but that never works out.

CIA grad here....food service all my life...this has nothing to do w/ how your perceiving it
My expectations of someone in the service industry are very realistic..the bar is not that high

+1 to this. I've NEVER had service that I've been disappointed with at Other Half. ALL of the bartenders have been courteous and the one time a keg kicked midway through my pour, she gave me the half a glass for free. Of all the places I've been to in Brooklyn, I find OH to be among the most friendly and least pretentious. When can release lines are backed way out, the brewer comes out to give people some idea for what availability to expect so far back. Classy place all around.

I've had an attitude by the girl behind the counter quite a few times and it pisses me off more and more each time...last time I was there this is how my convo went
Me: hey I'm going to get 3 32oz growler fills
Her: moves in closer to hear what I just said because the music is so loud ( I assume)
    Me: repeat previous statement
Her: OKAY WHICH BEERS- with the snottiest disgusted looking face and tone I've had from a worker in a business
I get talked to like shit all day so I'm used to it so when I say I literally almost walked out because of how annoyed I was, that should speak volumes

There is no unrealistic expectation of any of us for this bartender that all of us have had an issue with...if multiple people are saying the same thing then it isn't "us"...give it time she'll shit on you too eventually

Hoping everybody that has an entitlement problem (or is somehow confusing Brooklyn with SanFran) starts voting with their gas dollars, maybe the taproom will have a bit more breathing space?

If not I'll see you later, my favorite bartenders work on Thurs.

A year old thread, 66 pages of mostly useful info, great beer info shared, friendships made, OH exploding. The thread has taken a temporary turn, but no reason to nuke anything. A nice little community has been built in this thread.

I agree. Like any relationship, there are some ups and downs but overall I think this is a fantastic thread.

There's definitely two very distinct groups of people who participate in this thread.

    1) A small group of locals and regulars who frequent the tap room to drink, hang out and socialize with one another and the staff and thusly share news, thoughts and opinions about Other Half beers in this thread

    2) Bridge and tunnel folks wondering how early they need to show up on release day and who subsequently need to vent about bar service in a tiny and packed taproom on said release day

    Nail on head.

Maybe instead of nuking the thread we can talk about their beer on it, and then create another thread specifically for line-speculation and bitching about unfulfilling social experiences that were in reality just a beer transaction on a busy day.

    3) Lurkers who have only experienced Other Half on a limited basis (EBF, ACBF, trade) and cant wait until they have the opportunity to visit the taproom.

FFS - let's not go too much the other way eh?

So now it's an elitist thread where only us NYC'ers can partake? What next? How about only those of us in Brooklyn? And fuck anyone from the other boroughs.

@cavedave and many others from outside the city are big contributors here. Yes the thread has taken a temporary turn, but let's keep it inclusive while we get it back on track.

Edit - also as far as a lot of Manhattanites are concerned, OH is located in B&T territory.

The only, and I mean only, problem I have with Other Half is they are too far away for me to be there often as I would like. I have enjoyed every day I have spent there, every beer I have had there, and wish them nothing but the greatest success.

Sorry for whatever role I played in derailing the thread.

Good luck to all who are going Saturday, can't join y'all, I gotta work. Maybe it will be a Thursday release next time.

Yeah, hit up Mcdonalds across the street.

OH is great. Very young, and its impressive for such a "green" brewery.

Tasting room is pretty tight when they are busy. Keep in mind the tacos at Slow are huge and not something you can eat on the go. Chicken and chirizo combo is amazing! Get the guac with roasted corn and bacon too. They had a Beersmith on last I was in there and Aperture usually has OH IPA on too.
