If anyone goes there tonight can you post whether theY are doing growler fills of Superfun or not. They weren't doing growler fills of Small Green Everything last week.

I have a very small window tomorrow to get there at 12, fill my growlers, get out by 12:30 and get back home for a BBQ. Maybe see you there.

ATTN: NEW YORKERS - Your local beer will soon have massive trade value!

    Two thoughts:

    A) 500ml bottles are weird for IPAs, no? Was hoping they'd do a mix of 12s and 22s (12s for "smaller" beers, 22s for All Green and Green Diamonds).
    B) Think bottle sales will be limited to tap room, much like Alchemist, Lawson's, etc.?

I think initially they are just bottling a barrel aged version of the imperial stout they had on tap a few weeks ago, or at least that's what they were planning at the time

Part of me loves this thread for the camaraderie but the other part me hates it as I am sure most of us dread the day we can't get in the tap room or we are fighting for the beer we get so easily now.

They apparently now brewing the last batch of All Green Everything for the year. If you love that triple IPA, I guess enjoy it now.

Thirsty NY ers can consume a lot of hops. Here's hoping they can get their hop contracts up to the level of our ability to drink the beer made with them.

Looks like they are doing this all with double batching 10 barrel brew house and using 10 bbl tanks right now. My guess is they are gonna need at least a 20 bbl, and a buncha 40 bbl tanks sooner rather than later.

Lets get this straight, the shed where I keep my lawnmower & yard equipment is bigger than this joint. The parking is.....what parking ? But the beer was excellent for such a young brewery & the staff was outstanding. I'm from Buffalo where over the past year new breweries are opening all over the place. The new breweries in Buffalo almost all have great facilities & piss poor beer (I expect they will improve over time). The OTHER HALF is 180 degrees from the Bflo. joints. Come to Buffalo boys I'll finance the building & you make the great beer.

Picked up some growlers today. Superfun tastes great for 4% ABV! Drinking Green Diamonds too, this place is killing it!

I picked up 2 superfun earlier. Small green everything is pretty amazing. Stuffs pretty good but peekskill still gets my vote for best NY brewery.

    I agree

When Other Half makes beer like Awesome Sauce, Midnight Toker, Flavor Saver and Vaporizer I think they will be in the same league as PB. Seems obvious to me they are that talented, and the future is almost certain to be full of amazing Other Half beer, but until then silly even to think about it.

OTOH Doug is probably the finest Black Ale I have ever tasted.

With all due respect to the Godfather of local craft beer (@cavedave) , I am going to vote for Other Half. I love Peekskill, Dave turned me on to them, they make great beer. I have traveled 110 miles round trip many times over the last year to fill me growlers. Higher Standard is as good as it gets and I love Shotgun Willie. But....

At Other Half today you have: SuperFun!,Small Green Everything, Galaxy IPA, Doug, Hop Showers, and Green Diamonds. Not to mention All Green Everything which is not on today and Citra. For hoppy beers, Peekskill cant come close to that, I would venture to say there is no brewery in the country right now that has a kick-ass lineup of hoppy beer like this all at one time.

Great news is we New Yorkers now can have this debate. A year ago the only New York beer I had was Flower Power and had to count on trades and distributed beer to get a great beer! Now it is a car ride or train ride away for great beer.

@cavedave - Talked to Anthony today and he mentioned how great it was that you brought Heady and Hill Farmstead!!

Cheers everyone, it is a great time to be a craft beer drinker here in New York. Look forward to seeing many of you at Other Half and Peekskill! Get together last week was awesome, lets do it again sometime soon!

With equal respect to you, John.

I agree on the hoppy beers, for sure they are in the same league.

When they make a kick ass wild ale, brett saison, Imperial Stout, funky Belgian pale, and can produce the nation's best coffee pales, like Peekskill does, I think we can get serious about a comparison.

Right now we are talking about a brewery, to use baseball metaphors, that has a solid lineup of power hitters, but so far no one has seen their defense, pitching, base stealing, and relief staff capablilities. Hopefully we will get to enjoy many styles of equal quality at Other Half.
