That may be true but some of us enjoy the home run derby more than the all-star game itself!!!

I agree, I also love hop masterpieces more than other styles, but it is impossible to drink them as much as I would like to. Boredom, palate fatigue, and LTS are the reasons. I also enjoy about 50 other styles.

I suspect one would get bored of watching only home run derby all year in the same way.

Other Half are my favourite brewery in the state of NY right now. But proximity (a 5 min bike ride) plays a part. If Peekskill were equally close, it would be a tough call, but I'd probably have to go with them.

Agreed with @cavedave - love what OH are doing in the hoppy space, but need to see what they're capable of in other styles.

I was at the home brewing competition at the Bell House which is very close to Other Half. So I had to stop by. Superfun and small green everything in my glass.

Blasphemy! Not able to drink hop masterpieces all of the time  ?!

I am very IPA centric, will drink other styles but I never get sick of drinking the hoppy stuff, I am a true hop-head and Other Half stuff hits me straight between the eyeballs.

But don't fret Dave, rumor has it some farmhouse saisons will soon be showing up in bottles at Other Half.

Just stopped at Peekskill for the first time today on the way back from upstate. Needless to say my palette is wrecked. Unbelievable. Love the Yeah Jeets and Ziz. Higher Standard is awesome. Difficult to compare to OH due to the size of their operation. But I'm very happy to have OH nearby so I don't have to drive to Peekskill. Can't wait to see what they do next.

Dave, if anything gets released soon with a decent limit, I got you covered. I'm 15 mins from the brewery.

If/when the BA stout is released, we're all on the same page right?

Everyone needs to rate it a 5, regardless of what it tastes like. And then start hyping that sh*t in the forums.

Florida, Chicago, California can go f**k themselves - NYC coming to da party!

So no different from how the current Other Half beers are being rated.

Yeah those Ohio BAs are bad as well - good call

Or wait - do I sense a dissenting voice? Please tell me more

I've had the two saisons that are listed on this site, and Veldrijden Love is my favorite Other Half beer so far - really enjoyed it. Disclaimer on that endorsement: while I think the quality of their IPAs are really clear, I just don't find their IPAs to be my cup of tea.

Yeah I really want to try that one (Veldrijden).

The only non-hoppy offering I've had was the Lembeek 86. I rarely can't finish a beer, but that was like liquid cheese. Not a testament to their ability to brew other styles though, I'm sure.

While I do really enjoy their hoppy beers, in my opinion (i.e. just to be clear I'm not stating categorical fact for anyone who disagrees with me on this), they're not quite at the point where I think they're on the same level as say, Hill Farmstead.

A world class hop bomb, while showcasing the hops, still has a sense of being balanced, and of the different components truly complementing each other. My only gripe about some of the OH hoppy beers, is that they can be slightly one-dimensional. But these are early days and minor complaints. I'm confident they'll get better and better. I really enjoyed Superfun this weekend.

And on the topic of Veldrijden, of the barrels they've acquired and are filling, and of the bottles they're filling - does anyone know for sure what they're doing?

The barrels they posted about were Opus One (wine). What are they filling these with?

Then in the above picture, they're bottling from these barrels, which have "Veldrijden Love" on the side. What barrels were these? Just plain oak, or had they held something previously?

Looks like @Crookdrain beat me to punch, nice of him to offer. He is closer to brewery to me, but if for whatever reason that doesnt work out I can try.

Would be great to meet up somewhere and try Other Half's saison and the new one at Peekskill, or whichever one is avail. when they release at OH.
