Other Half Brewing

Never got to make it today but hopefully will get a chance tomorrow or next Friday. So amped to try all these delicious beers!

 

Don't want to say I told you so... Other Half is awesome.

Green Diamonds is one of the few I still need to try. Maybe I'll go tomorrow for a growler fill.

 

Ha ha, when I saw your awesome reviews and knowing what a great judge of beer you are, i knew their stuff would be great!

 

Haven't had a meetup at the brewery, but met @Kanger at the St. Gambrinus tap takeover on Thursday.

Doubt I'll make it to the brewery tomorrow, but hoping that Green Diamonds makes its way into other parts of central Brooklyn this week.

 

look who I saw there yesterday! Was insanely pleased with everything they had there. Took home growlers of All Green Everything, Citra, & Wheat Wine (which was delicious). Pretty pumped about this place & excited to see how those sours & stouts come out

 

Don't think that will work, I am going to be out of town that week for work. How about 19th instead?

 

Yeah I was actually planning on going to the brewery yesterday, but my friend couldn't make it. So we are replanning for July.

July 12th or 19th both work for me.

 

Had their galaxy IPA at the double windsor in BK yesterday, so good. Definitely need to make it to the brewery at some point.

 

What type of growlers are they filling (ie. swing tops a la Hill Farmstead/others, or the simple gallon jugs), and would they be suitable to be packed away for a flight home? When are they open to fill growlers, only during tap room hours or more regularly?

 

Stopped by today for Galaxy and Hop Showers. The wife had the Citra and swears by it. In fact, she had it at St Gambrinus a few weeks ago and has been dying to have it again. Hence we spent the afternoon at the tasting room. Delicious IPAs.

 

Between last weekend and this weekend I had growlers of 5 of the 6 Other Half IPAs. What an awesome lineup of beers, especially for a new brewery. Are there any other breweries anywhere with an extensive lineup of great tasting IPAs/DIPAs/TIPAs like this?

All Green Everything - Had this today, what an awesome smell. For 10.5 abv, no alcohol burn and not that syrupy taste the big TIPAs typically have. At 10.5 I need to go easy with this, but this is a great beer. If this was called Hopslam or Exponential Hoppiness people would go nuts for this.

Green Diamonds - Downed almost most of the 64 ounce growler of this yesterday. Loved it. Well crafted, love the smell and taste. i can see myself drinking this one on a regular basis.

Hop Showers - had a 32 ounce growler last week and a pint at a bar during the week. It has a world class smell. Spent more time smelling it than drinking it. I saw on Untapped someone described this as funky, I agree. Another one I can see myself drinking regularly.

Galaxy IPA - maybe the underdog of all of these, not extreme in any way but damn good. Loved it and very drinkable.

Citra - This is one i liked the least, pretty one dimensional, but definitely good.

I am not great at reviewing beers, but I no what I like and what a quality beer tastes like. These guys are absolutely killing it. To be able to get 5 beers like this from the same place is pretty phenomenal.

Where did these guys come from and how are they making such an awesome lineup of beer?

 

They counter pressure so no swing tops. They will fill 32,and 64 growlers, just need to be regular, wide-mouth screw tops. Think should be fine if packed really well. Pretty limited hours right now during which you can sample, get full 12- and 16-oz pours, and growler fills.

 

Alright, so growler fills only during tasting room hours. Dang. Won't be able to make it then

 

Couldn't agree more about All Green Everything, especially the Hopslam and Expo analogy. Shocking how drinkable it is for 10.5.

Looks like I need to get me some Green Diamonds next week since I didn't make it this weekend.

 

Hmm not sure 19 will be good for me, will only know better as we approach the date.

Yeah man, saw them at Jazzfest this year after not seeing them for 15 years, going to Randall's shows, SPAC shows, and have some tickets to trade for other shows. Are you going to Randall's?

Would love to meet up on the 12, especially as it is likely I will be in Boston on 19. But I guess jrnyc can't make that date. I am gonna be thirsty after no beer for a month at that point.

 

Yes, I am for sure! I don't miss Phish when they come through NYC...and they've been great the past couple years! I'll be at all 3 Randall's shows. I just won't be able to get to Other Half until closer to mid-afternoon (I'm getting my haircut at 12:30pm lol). I'll BM you my mobile #

Was there on Friday night, met some nice people and shared a bottle or two. They literally kegged Green Diamonds while I was there and put it up. That shit was stupid fresh. So glad to have it back.
