Actually can't make it on the 12th. Just found out my friend is having his annual pool party bbq that day out in Rahway.

Watershed moment: just saw that Bierkraft put MBC Lunch on growler fill, but (for once) not bothered as I'm going to Other Half tomorrow

I've been reading through this thread almost salivating. If anyone wants to swap some Other Half growlers for some Pizza Boy growlers shoot me a message. Other Half sounds downright exquisite.

I'm at The Other Half tap room right now enjoying some fresh green diamond and picking a growler of the citra.

I can likely do the 12th. Flying back from West Coast day before, a little later start, say 2pm would work better for me. Does that work for you?

We need to get a list going too, very small place, we don't want to overwhelm them with too many people. If they are not too busy maybe we can get a BA tour of brewery and chat with brewer(s)?

Excellent, so glad you are coming! I will be either one or two depending on if anyone takes my sister's Phish tickets off my hands. Hopefully Mark will chime in as well.

So yeah the tap room is great, but as mentioned it's very small and gets crowded fast. I would recommend going as soon as it opens. But yeah 4 tastings for only $5 and most pints are $5. Some of the stronger stuff is a bit more. I paid $6 for Green Diamond. And they will fill any growler as long as it's a standard screw cap bottle. I paid $16 for the Citra IPA.

I met Anthony who was working the taproom. Super nice guy.

I will definitely be a regular at this place. It's only 8 stops away from me on the G train.

I'm down, I can probably get out that way by 2ish...maybe a bit later, all depends really. Thing is, I need to be able to get to the ferry to Randall's for Phish, so not sure where/when that is

I do also, it is at 34 and East River, I believe, and there will be a line for sure. We can stumble over together:wink:

Your best bet after going to the Brewery is taking the F train at Smith and 9th St to Manhattan. Transfer to the 4/5/6 train at Broadway and Lafayette. Take that uptown to 125 street and transfer to the B35 Bus. That bus goes to Randall's island.

I already have the ferry passes and my car will be somewhere in Manhattan, so...

Basically what he said. Went at closing time. Not too many people there but yeah it's small. Got the Citra IPA too, was my favorite. Extra $5 for the growler. (Tip- they will fill a 32 ouncer but with a wide mouth because of their pressure fill system. Pill bottle style is too small) I had to buy yet another growler. Oh well.
Hands down these guys are making the best IPAs in the City/Long Island. Can only get better from here.

I think these guys are making best IPAs in all of New York. I still have Higher Standard as the best and I love Shotgun Willie, but Other Half has 5 excellent IPAs/DIPAs on right now that Peekskill can't match up with.

Anyone else get the 32 ounce Bierkraft growlers at the Other Half tap room? Both of mine have a paint like smell, not cool.

Can't wait to try these guys out!

Hope they have a decent connection for their hops, or we all might be saying, "Hey, I wonder when Other Half is gonna come out with another batch of _______________," like we do upstate for War Elephant and others.

Been drinking these guys beer for a while and made it to their tasting room this weekend. While I think they're well on their way to making great IPAs and double IPAs, I have found many of their beers to be on the bitter side for an IPA. I know many might like that but for me it's a bit much for me. Some tweaking of the recipes and I think these guys will have the best IPAs in New York.

Interesting. I like them because I don't find them bitter at all. I thought everything I've tried was smooth.

Like I said - can just be my pallet as it relates to bitterness. I thought their citra IPA was very good and very balanced and I thought the all green everything was probably one of the better triple IPAs i have had because it avoided that syrup feeling some triple IPAs have. Green diamonds and hop showers though were a little too bitter for me.
