Doesn't seem like there's been much of a shitshow - it's just popular beer that's selling quickly. Plenty of other IPAs that are harder to land.

Brooklyn, hype and shitshow all go hand in hand. This is not new.
That said - finding the beers on tap around town isn't a problem so I don't see what the big deal is - unless its for trade?

And about Bushwicks Fine whatever - obviously they have customers paying these prices - just look at the recent posts on this thread and maybe they will raise the prices! The new moneyed BK has no shortage of young people with loads of free time and disposable income (whether its earned or allowance is another thing) so this is their hobby. Getting the new "it" beer w/o driving to VT or waiting in line (the lines that sound like will be longer going forward) would be worth it to people who aren't thinking about money for rent, family, etc. Shit if Uber offered a service to get OH beer for those prices - kids would be all over it. Reminds me of a grocery store that started selling bottles from 6packs as singles - long before alot of fancy bottle shops opened in NYC - so you could buy 6x whatever at full retail but you couldn't get the same 6 in 6 pack pricing. I don't shop there - but I'm sure others do. My point is we might be educated and honest consumers but the vast majority don't give a shit.

Isles had beer for sale before noon...probably staved off a riot
would really like to know what OH thinks the life expectancy is of the 1le hops
never thought of myself as a hoarder its just nice to buy cases and drink them over a 2le a months
if I have to drink faster....I can do that too

Drink fast. GD awesome beer but definitely falls off. Also, in announcement for Nelson/Citra release they said beer very perishable and drink fresh. They will keep making more off all this stuff, no reason for anyone to hoard cases.

If they will do it, I will probably do a mixed case.

Yea I plan on going and picking up a 4 pack of each. I don't see any need to hoard a cases. No way I can drink all of that fast enough.

Yeah I plan on buying 2 4s of each.

TBH - I really just want growlers of Citra. It was one of my favorites of last year.

Is it just me or does anyone else get annoyed when they see "Pre FT: Other Half..." threads on beer trading sites. Just makes it harder to get. But then again, it's also nice to have a hyped-up, world class brewery in our backyard.

Its not just you, I feel the same way. But it is a double-edged sword. As a trader, I benefit from trading for other great beers all around the country so can't get upset when "our" beers start to become trade bait. And I am sure with more ammo, local traders here are getting some great stuff that inevitably shows up at bottle shares. But I l know the post you are referring to, it was up within minutes of the official word from the brewery about release.

Great news is OH making desirable beers for us to go and drink, the trading, hoarding, muling, etc is unfortunately inevitable. Seems like anyone who has wanted cans has got them and these beers are regularly on tap at the tap room with no hype.

I hope that, if and when the hype train continues to grow, OH ends up in a space that is more amenable to big releases. Right now, it's just difficult to have a great time at the release when everyone is crammed in like sardines (unless you go later in the day).

Frankly I'm surprised they're able to make it work even in the space they do have (and that so many people will travel to Gowanus for these releases). Was at Trillium in Boston a few weeks back and there's no room to grab a drink during a release.

I rolled into OH Saturday at 12:30, no one waiting for cans and a handful of people at bar. Not sure why people are lining up before open.

Boy, I must have went during the off season! I was in Boston in December, went to Trillium on a Friday night at 7pm. I was the only person in there.

Heavy Mettle was absolutely fucking fantastic.

Agree 100%. I got there at ~1pm. It actually took my GF longer to get our pints in the taproom (<10 minutes) than it did for me to run out and grab (3) 4packs.
