Anymore experiences with the OH DC brewed beers?

I have a love/hate relationship with TIPAs, and BAHA definitely blasted its way onto the "love" side of that binary. I had to restrict it to a rare indulgence at 13%, but I would have been happy to have more of it if it wasn't such a danger for my waistline.

LAX2JFK: Redirected Flight was good enough that I don't regret purchasing it, but I wouldn't buy it again. There's nothing I would say is "wrong" with it, but it just didn't wow me as much as I'd hoped from an OH/Monkish collab.

Seems like a vast majority of their releases are 8% and up. Wish they'd make more lower ABV IPAs.

I mean, they do make some 6.5% IPAs (and lower) but I feel like their forte has been the bigger stuff and I don't expect them to change that. I expect the lagers to be the low abv options come next Summer. Unfortunately. Hope they prove me wrong.

Ummm, please don't listen to this beer overlords... OH sweet spot is 8.5%, keep making momma bear IPAs as the vast majority, don't need the baby and poppa ones, OH's batting avg is way too low on them.

I like lower abv IPAs, and that money will be spent at Ocelot, Sapwood Cellars, and Elder Pine. OH definitely excels at the upper abv hoppy beers, and I've been impressed with the lagers from the NY breweries, so they'll get my money with those. The stouts are... mostly misses for me, but I'm hoping DC improves in that department.

Really wish Sapwood wasn't so far into Maryland, would definitely try to get my hands on more of their stuff if they were a half an hour away for me versus 50 minutes.

I think the point was just that OH generally do best in the 8-8.5% DIPA range vs DIPA being generally "better" or not understanding the attraction of a single IPA / lower ABV options. There are some exceptions (i.e. the almighty Hop Showers™ with its cult-like following), but generally that's the rule of thumb with them. As for pilsners - definitely some solid NY pilsners right now agreed (Suarez/Threes being obvious choices but there are several others) but wouldn't count OH among them. Ordering a pilsner from OH is sort of like ordering the hidden-in-the-back-of-the-menu sushi or fish & chips from the local Indian spot. It's there to be able to say that all bases are covered but that's about it.

I went there with a couple friends a few weeks ago. Overall quite nice, but a touch inconsistent. Happy to have them in the area and a nice spot to throw back some beers that I’ll look forward to returning to but look forward to a wider selection of beers (in particular the lager regimen) and a little more consistency in the execution on the hops.

I wouldn’t hesitate to go there, they’re immediately on par with everyone doing hops locally unless you head down to Richmond.

Haha yeah, my issue would be that I'm not motivated by the prospect of throwing down IPA after IPA at a brewery right now. Some other breweries that better fit the bill for me to visit.

I'll give OH a standard deviation for Hop Showers, Broccoli, and Green Diamonds... Yeah my point wasn't doubles are the best ipas but just that doubles are OH's best ipas.

Personally I rather save a few bucks and drink a Juice Bomb from the self if I want a single NEIPA.

Yeah, I totally agree and that's what I attempted to say in my earlier response. If I'm getting OH, I'm getting DIPAs (I'm a Broccoli bro, personally). There are better options in MD and VA for single IPAs.

I know the DC operation is new but so far the 6.5% IPA I got from them was excellent and the 8% IIPA was dogshit.

On their menu I’m seeing beers now listed under “draft”. Can anyone confirm if they are pouring beer from taps now? I don’t see anything about it on their website or social media accounts

I can confirm that a trusted friend told me they now have draft beer. Don't know about prices or size options, so if anyone has that info, please share!

Tomorrow's drop will have you feeling like you're on a tropical vacation. Available Friday at noon for Curbside Pickup.

Double Cut Gems Imperial IPA (8.0%) Cut Gems is the intersection of 2 series that highlight 2 of our favorite hops, Citra, which is the base of our 'Gems' series, and Strata, the foundation of our 'Cut' series. Expect big tropical flavors, citrus, a little berry (think creamy strawberry) and a little bit of dankness from this top notch hop combo. $18 per 4 pack.

Forever Strata IPA (6.5%) Strata is the new kid on the block coming out of Oregon and has a mix of tropical fruit, creamy strawberry and unmarked backroad Humboldt County. One of the best. $16 per 4 pack.

Which better options are you referring to for single IPAs in the area?
