Got it. Was hoping it was other options I wasn't aware of. All of those are an hour to hour and a half drive from my place.

The lower abv beers at OH are far better than their high abv beers. I don't like super thick, and sweet hoppy beers though. Their higher abv stuff tends to be that way.

How does OH compare to other breweries in the area for you? Mostly in comparison to say Bluejacket, Aslin, and Commonwealth, but feel free to include others if there's a better comparison.

Wrong, see what happens when people get in line and eat pizza with forks!

Admittedly, the lower abv stuff out of DC (forever citra, forever strata, etc) is among the best sub 8% stuff I've had from them.

Had Double Cut Gems and Double Green Dots and both were fine. Not other worldly, but not bad either. No flaws or burn.

I'll give them a shot... So is Forever X a low abv DC thing? What happens to Forever Simcoe?

Surprisingly, despite my recent luck with galaxy, Double Space Cut was my favorite of the OH DC mixed four I got.

Forever X is the DC single hop beer akin to X Chroma and the Small/All Everythings. I'm told the water alone makes for some differences in the beers. Not sure what it means for OG Forever Simcoe.

I'm certainly not an expert, but I was under the impression many brewers and distillers have equipment to strip water of its minerals and reconstitute it with their desired mineral profile and pH level.

They're not stripping it of minerals, they're starting with a base water profile (city tap) and building from there. Large calcium chloride, gypsum, and Epsom salt additions make the base minerality just a jumping-off point.

For example, the average chloride ppm of DC water is about 34, but the average NEIPA has 150-250ppm of chloride. Same goes for sulfate (49 ppm in DC water vs 75-100 in the average IPA). A small, say, magnesium level of 7 ppm isn't going to make a difference in water character given the large salt additions.

I think we have the answer: Double Forever Simcoe with an ugly label! With that said, I can't wait to try it with the DC yeast.
