Other Half (November 2018)

Don’t act like you aren’t checking in on Foursquare the second you get to OH every week.

 

Easily buying a mixed case of DDH ACE and DDH Space Daydream was one of the more productive things I’ve done this week.

 

I know this is hella early but I'm very excited for Other Half's 5th anni release

 

Anyone try the dual hop?

 

Dunno why but I really like that glass. I sure the OH/EQ one is probably going to be very limited, but I'd definitely buy a OH one in that shape if they sold it at the taproom.

 

Is the CW stout still kicking? Coming down from CT for a few pours before the Tara melos/mouse on the keys/vasudeva early show.

 

Never mind. Sold out around 2pm per IG comments. Womp. Womp.

 

Does that not apply to bottles. Do did the keg kick too?

 

This glass looks really nice, the joint logo looks solid - better than some of the ugly ass teku designs that OH has done

I quite enjoyed it. Had a nice bitterness this morning, a little dank/onion quality that I attributed to the Idaho 7. I think it will be quite interesting in a week or three. Better than the Hop Showers also on tap today.

 

I don't want to be hating on NJ, but drinking magnify and Other Half back to back, the difference is insane. The simcoe day dream is so good, and I generally am not a simcoe fan .

 

^^^ I've been feeling this since about the time we started getting steady, regular, consistently delicious batches of the OH top tier IPA's (DMD, ACE, and really most of the dual hop series). Like right now 3 Floyds is crashing some bars around town, but I don't even care. I'm sure those beers are awesome, and maybe even unique takes on the hops they've used. I'm deeply skeptical they're going to change my feelings about our local hop heroes.

 

Even some of Kane's recent-ish IPAs I've had (brighten the corners, wind swell, some of their fruited IPAs) don't come close to the recent OH I've had. They were good last year when I was drinking them often, but seems even better now.

Good for them for meeting their demand, expanding, and making solid beers.

 

So strange that I came here directly from the Magnify thread and was literally thinking I’m getting tired of Magnify being an ipa machine but not OH since theirs are on another level. Then the first comment I read was yours.

 

Yeah...IPA machine is fine - but there is a certain quality that is expected. I was put ooff from magnify for a while since I bought a few releases and they would fall off HARD in 2-3 weeks. Was in the area today and figured I'd pick up some for Thanksgiving down in NC, and ehhh...now I'm thinking the reason they have beers rolling over for 2-3 weeks isn't because they've upped production..just much better options out there - even the Czig Meister NEIPAs I've found in stores were better.

It’s crazy good. My first time grabbing cans of this and maybe I’m nuts, but didn’t DDH space diamonds used to taste like this? I know the last two batches have maybe not been as bright as in the past but my conspiracy theory side is thinking maybe they experimented with lactose in past space diamond batches.
