Speaking of office space diamonds.. can anyone comment on this batch? Back to its delicious galaxyness or does it have that malty thing that happened last time (or 2 batches ago)?

Still working through the early October batch, which is tasting incredible.

Y'all weren't kidding about this batch of Mylar Daydream. I almost exclusively avoid to dream'd OH offerings, as I think they way overdo the oats and drown out the sharpness that I enjoy in their hoppy beers. But in this batch, the dream treatment seems to be smoothing out all those rough edges just enough.

Also, despite my affinity for peanut butter, I was not a fan of Short, Dark & Handsome. I thought the PB was subtle and well integrated, but there was a more prominent soy sauce aroma than I was expecting. I haven't had an OH stout in maybe 18 months (not a fan of >10% beers, generally), so I'm out of the loop... but do most of their stouts come off a bit soy sauce-y on the nose?

Should I be dripping OH stouts on my sushi, I've never heard of 'soy sauce' as an aroma/tasting note until like a month ago.

I’ve ran across many high ABV beers that were “old” that tasted like soy sauce. Most notably, a 15 year old bottle of Sam Adams Triple Bock. Horrendous.

I revisited tonight and looked for it (whatever to however looking for it might affect taste). I can definitely see it on the nose, particularly while it's colder, but not as much on the taste.

I felt this exact same way about the Space Daydream. Thought it smoothed out the bite and rough edges that Galaxy tends to have and provided a nice back drop for the pineapple as well as peppery notes form Galaxy to shine

It's a result autolyzed yeast. This causes an Umami flavor to develop.

Anyone know if they have Space Diamonds left? IG post doesn't mention it, but it's listed on their website.

It's funny, I never thought of the soy sauce thing before, but my girlfriend who just got into stouts recently (really the only beer style she likes), used the soy sauce description a couple of times, and I've been seeing/hearing it everywhere now haha.

I wasn't a fan of triple cream. I know a lot of people went nuts, but there was too much going on with that beer IMO.

Okay, so now we have the Junk Food series. What is the common thread in the two that we know of?

The connection is simple. Not only are they both beers but both were conceived after their branding agency told them that beer nerds will eat up anything named after food products. Thus a series is born!

PB Short Dark and Handsome is tasting great to me, extremely smooth and decadent, nice milk chocolate flavor. the PB seems to add to the mouthfeel and structures the sip a bit but is not overpowering, imo.

did not detect soy sauce, tho i thought that Grimm Sumi Babka had a bit of soy flavor with the salt addition.

Take a great dual hop beer and oxidize it.
