I've been using BA as a resource for info about specific beers for a long time, but just recently stumbled upon the forums, which I think are fantastic for learning more about what's available in specific areas of the country. I live in Philadelphia, and I'm planning to visit friends in Park Slope on January 24.

I'm already familiar with Barrier Brewing, and this forum has helped me discover some of the newer breweries in the area, including Other Half, which sounds awesome and is probably the easiest one to get to either on my way to my friend's place Saturday, on my way home Sunday, or both. From the dedicated Other Half thread, I see they'll fill only standard 32/64-ounce growlers and have had only limited bottle releases. But out of curiousity, is it out of the realm of possibility they'll have bottles available that weekend? And where do they stand with canning? Last, is it possible to park anywhere near the brewery? I'd be nice to hit them on the way out of town to bring home a growler or two for the NFL playoffs.

Also, can anyone recommend a shop in Park Slope that might have something I wouldn't see in our distro here in Philly? Thanks. Looking forward to your responses and become more active on BA.

:: EDIT :: Glad to see I started my posting career with a typo in the title. Where's Park Slops anyway?

Other Half is right across the street from a McDonalds that has a small amount of parking (if I recall correctly) if you won't be long. Besides that there's street parking around. The last time I was there I was able to park right in front.

Here's my all-time favorite website for locating breweries and brewpubs; it's my travel guide: www.pubquest.com

Parking in front of Other Half will be very tough, but you should be able to find spot in the neighborhood with a little hunting.

Bottles could be possible, but they only have bottled two of their beers and they were pretty much one-offs. They have plans for canning, but who knows when that will happen.

Best bet is to drink draft there and get growlers to go.

St. Gambrinus bottle shop is less than a 10 minute drive from Other Half. That's probably the closest bottle shop in that area.

    Either there or Bierkraft.

Whole Foods is within walking of Park Slope. On corner of Third and Third. St Gambrinus has good selection as well and decent pricing.

Yeah, Whole Foods is the best option for bottles in the neighborhood - both for variety and price.

... and they have a parking lot.

Try Whole Foods for bottles and Owl Farm if you are looking for a bar.

Whole Foods also has a bar on their roof. Good beer selection and a nice panoramic view, nicer in nice weather but worth a stop for one.
