They held a ceremonial groundbreaking on Monday, eventually will have 200,000 barrel capacity. Pub will close for a month in November for a renovation. http://m.wptz.com/news/vermont-brewer-beefs-up-its-beer-business-with-new-expansion/35670138
They got rid of all their old beers and started making mostly hop forward beers and I know thats what people here want but I hope they can bring back some other styles.
Some of them slouched towards mediocrity, but the Stovepipe Porter was a gateway beer for me and well worth making on a large scale. Their recent hoppy offerings have all been good and I wouldn't be upset with seeing more of them, but I'm hoping they'll keep some variety.
Copper Ale was my favorite beer when I started getting into craft. I have fond memories of that one but their new offerings have been solid so far.
It sounded to me like the additional capacity would give them the flexibility to do some smaller batches of things like Black IPA. Sales of that beer dropped off once they made it year round.
Cool - bring back back VT Lager, quit screwing around w/limited collabs, & keep cranking out Backseat Berner, Citra Mantra & Overgrown as quality, affordable, easily-accessed offerings in the northeast.
I can't complain at all about the newer beers they've been doing - hasn't been a clunker in the bunch. However, like others, I have fond memories of Copper Ale and Stovepipe Porter from back in the day. It would be great if they could bring them back in some way - maybe a Historic 12-pack or something?
