"fruity hops are for wine drinkers and pickleball enthusiasts."

    Indeed!

I think that author must have a doctorate in marketing and be living an unhappy life to be able to write satire like that. Funny and enjoyable.

Thanks for sharing that. Got a good laugh out of it. It may be satire now, but the way things are headed this might be the norm pretty soon.

I reckon that it depends on what a particular persons definition of "IPA" is.

Does one think that beers that taste like artificial fruit juice defines IPA?

Does one think that only 100+IBU palate wreckers defines IPA?

Does one consider that a very hoppy Amber/Red Ale defines IPA?

Does one on consider late 80's-early 90's malty "East Coast IPA" defines IPA?

In our modern world, a hoppy lager is being considered a "Cold IPA".

We are absolutely at the point that "IPA" is a term that is totally amorphous, and borderline meaningless.

I immediately checked the date when I saw the headline, as it feels like something written 10+ years ago during the WCIPA heyday and the height of the IBU wars.

These aren’t just any hops. We import only the most scathing Fuggle hops from a region in the UK known only for conquest and brutality.…..uh yeah.

I get it, it’s a joke but it’s a bit much for me
    Personally.

    I know, right?
Fuggles? No!!! I was so with this satire until the author showed their hand and it all came crashing down.

Should be Perle, and should be a reference to the Third Reich.

Amateur hour my man. Too easy.
    Cheers

Well, Fuggles are the funniest hops. Or so thought Drewry's Ltd* (South Bend, IN) ad agency back in the mid-60s.

*I know. "Drewry's? Who/What/Huh?" The #12 brewer in the country at the time, soon to merge into #19 Associated, which would put them at #7 for 1965 (the year of the campaign above) -over a half million barrels larger than #11 & 12, Miller and Coors.
