I'm on my way to the Duck, NC in the Outer Banks and was hoping to gather some info on what beers to try and what pubs to stop at. Obviously Bell's Two Hearted is a pick. I'm from the northeast so i've never had it and can't wait. What else is a must try out there?

Go to the Outer Banks Brewing Station on mile post 8.5 I think. Great food and damn good beer. They got bands on the weekends late night. You have to ask but the Sour Ale is killer and the Lemongrass Wheat is a good hot day brew. If you pick up some and wanna trade holler this way. Btw, there is a good shop around mile post 4 or 6 in a tiny stripmall.

That good shop in the Mile 6 Plaza is Chip's.

You gotta go to Chips. There is a large, green "milepost 6" sign in front of the plaza. They have a great selection plus they now have several beers on tap. The Front Porch Cafe (right next door) is good for coffee. You should check out Trio (MP 4.5). I've only been there a couple times, but there's a good selection and it's closer to Duck. There is a Harris Teeter grocery store soon after you come over the bridge (on your right) that has a decent selection (for a grocery store). The OBX Brewing Station, mentioned above, should also be on the list. I usually get a growler (and several refills) every time I'm in the Outer Banks.

Ditto the above. The Outer Banks Brew Station has pricy food but it's not bar food at all, very good. We went three times in a week...lol

Trio in Kitty Hawk is a really good bottle shop and bar.. About 10-15 beers on tap. Grab a pint and shop for beer. Whats not to like. Also agree with Chip's and Sweet T's.

Thanks for the suggestion guys. Looking forward to trying the local brewhouses. I researched trio and that place looked promising.

Plus on your way down on 168 is the Weeping Radish brewery (on your right in a barn style building headed towards the beach). Never been but they got a couple good ones, but you can pick them up at the local stores too. Also, Tommy's Market in Duck has a decent but small selection. They make great sandwiches too.

I'm a fan of supporting local breweries but I think Weeping Radish is as foul as it's name.

    Bump for random question:

Anything good bottles available in OBX that don't get distributed in Charlotte? Heading to OBX tomorrow and plan on stopping at Chips on the way to our place.

the only thing I can think of that would be in OBX but not the rest of NC is maybe some Outer Banks Brewing, and you're more likely to just find those at the brewpub itself. Trios and Chips may have some though...

Question: my wife will be Corolla in the outer banks around the 13th of October for a wedding. I'm looking for a case of FRESH Sweetwater IPA for her to bring back to DC. Any place you all could recommend? She won't have a lot of time to putz around due to wedding goings-on, so its gotta be an in and out kind of thing. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks all!

There is a Harris teeter in corolla that should have it. Not sure how fresh but that might be your best bet.
