Hey all, traveling to Corolla again this year and wanted to see if anything new popped up. I will definitely be stopping by the The Shack, and Butcher Block (if only for the sandwich). Also looks like there is a tap room next to the HT which I missed last year. Depending on the time we drive in, we may hit Sweet T's and Growlers to Go in Duck. Cheers
have not made my way down there for a while but Northern Outer Banks Brewing is pretty new as is Jack Brown's Beer & Burger Joint in KDH. Growlers to Go Duck is also a season spot and 2-3 years old.
Just north of the town of Duck is a new restaurant/bar called The Village Table and Tavern (https://villagetableandtavern.com/#menu), it's owned by Trio (best bottle shop in OBX, https://obxtrio.com/) Pretty solid tap list and food is good.
Places to stop on your route?? - Precarious Beer Project in Williamsburg - Oozlefinch in Fort Monroe Both should be pretty convenient to your drive down from RVA to OBX
I have in the past, but this year I am getting picked up early on a Monday am in Richmond at the airport. I normally hit the Answer/Veil/Triple but they don’t open till 4!! I’ve also mailed myself beer from home. The Outer Banks is a beer waste land.
It's been awhile since I've been, but I think you'll find it vastly better than years before. Have fun.
It's not the beer waste land it once was, you can find some solid to-go options at Trio or Buffalo City jug shop, and some spots will have a few good drafts. Certainly it is still not a place where beer is top priority though.
If any of you guys ever stop in to Precarious let me know! Would love to meet some fellow BAs in-person and buy you a beer.
I always make a point to hit buffalo city, even back when they were at their old spot. Always great bottle/can selections, great drafts to enjoy in store, and most things on draft are offered to go in growlers. I definitely agree with the others here that you’ll find the obx not quote as much of a craft beer wasteland as it used to be.
