I don't see this place listed on here, but has anybody gone to this newer place that markets itself as a craft beer bar and music venue? I can see two shows coming up in June that look interesting and it was actually from looking at Low's tour schedule that I even heard about this craft beer bar. Of course, it may be nonsense, but I can't tell because their beer menu link is broken.

There used to be a venue in hamden called "The Space". Not sure if this is a new incarnation of that place, but they had maybe 1 or 2 craft beers on when I was there a few years ago. It was more-or-less just a music venue though, not a bar.

Oh, and shitty SBC is right around the corner.

This SBC location actually closed a few months ago.
I haven't been to the Outer Space, but I think they had a bunch of CT beers on last week for CT Beer Week. You can check out their Untappd page to see what people have been checking into there recently.

It's another place, run by the same guy (great person), who has actually also just opened the Spaceland Ballroom, an even larger venue - all three in a little industrial park in Hamden. Only The Outer Space has beer - the Space is an all-ages, no alcohol venue. It's literally around the corner from where I grow up, and when I still lived in CT I was there all the time.

Maybe even 9 months ago the beer selection was not that great, like 4 or 5 taps and a bunch of ok bottles, but they've really stepped it up recently. Up to 16 taps, they had Gandhi, Galaxy, Supernaut, and 668 on a few days ago for an event with NEBCO and a bunch of Relic on then too, I think. But yeah.... a really cool place, run by really cool people, and a GREAT place to see a show, IMO. It's definitely a concert venue with craft beer attached, rather than the other way around, but you can still get your beer fix, and in a good way.

I called up to figure some of it out, as well. Spaceland Ballroom are where the Low and the !!! shows are going to be. That room has a few craft taps, but Outer Space is a craft beer bar with many taps and they said that they are connected by a hallway that even if you wanted a larger selection than what was in the Spaceland Ballroom, that you can buy at Outer Space and bring it with you into Spaceland Ballroom.

Cool - was not aware Spaceland Ballroom was going to have any taps at all! But yeah, should have probably made it clear those are connected. Figured they would do that deal, although I'm not sure how that's going to work when there are shows at Outer Space and Spaceland at the same time, given the layout.

I have not been to Spaceland Ballroom yet (Outer Space and The Space I have), but when they launched a Kickstarter many months ago it sounded like a great addition to the CT music/beer scene. When Daniel Street in Milford closed, it left a hole for mid-sized venues in the area and I'm glad Spaceland is filling the void. They had some beer events/fundraisers at the beginning partially designed to have locals give input as to what beers they wanted to serve, so I expect they are taking their list pretty seriously.

If you like live music, and a band comes around that peaks your interest be sure to check them out. I've been to many comparably sized venues for shows (Toads, Pearl St in Northampton, Bowery/MHOW in NYC) and its a MAJOR bonus that we can enjoy a seriously good craft ale in an intimate venue! It doesn't hurt that its not too far from NEBCO or Mikro either

Given that I no longer live in CT, but just visit often, I hadn't even realized yet that Daniel Street had closed. I used to look at their calendar of bands coming and that was one of the most solid line ups of good music in CT. When you are booking Acid Mothers Temple, Mark Kozelek, etc.; you are actually stepping up the game for the CT music scene. There is no reason that CT people should have to go to NYC or Boston to see these types of artists, which was my biggest complaint when I lived there. Hopefully Spaceland Ballroom will do allright bringing artists like that normally would have skipped CT.

I second all that. I've popped in there a few times recently before shows across the way at The Space. When I was there last they had NEBCO, Two Roads, Captain Lawrence that I remember. Old Rasputin too. The bartender was great and definitely knew her stuff.
