I just attempted to review a beer that has over 4,000 reviews and stands at a BA Score of 90 with a score that reflected my personal experience with said beer (which would likely have been between 2.5 - 3). My review was not accepted by the site when I clicked Submit - I just saw the three strobing grey bars at the top right corner a couple times, and that was it. I reloaded the page and the site several times, and got the same result. My review was over 800 characters.

I then reviewed a different beer, and my review was accepted.

Has there been a change to the algorithm for outliers to refuse reviews entirely if they fall too far outside a beer's current average, regardless of the character/word count in the review?

    Thank you!

To my knowledge, there's been no change.

Good to know, and the quick response was both fantastic and appreciated! Should I re-try the review later today or tomorrow, and see if it persists?

Yes. I'll have @Mike look it too.

We haven't made any changes in a while. My guess is that there may have been an issue with the connection, either on our end or yours. Please try giving it another shot.

I tried this again this morning. Same result - the three grey bars ran for a cycle or two, and then vanished, with no change to the rating screen.

Sounds like a very specific user/performance error. What OS and browser version are you on? What type of display are you running?

My OS is Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit SP1, and the browser is Chrome version 43.0.2357.81 m. The computer itself is a Dell Inspiron laptop, running a 17" monitor on an Intel graphics adapter (HD Graphics 4000).

I also just tried to review another beer, which was accepted.

That could explain it. Windows 7 is over 5 years old, and mainstream support for it ended in Jan 2015.

I get the 3 strobing bars frequently, not just on this site. It seems to be a connection issue - rebooting the router usually fixes it. But then Time-Warner isn't the best ISP.

It's just odd that it's only that one specific beer - everything else on the site works fine for me, including reviewing other beers.

I'll just chalk this up to "disturbance in the Force". Thanks for checking into it!

Well, now I'm curious; what beer is either so awesome, or so awful, that BA's computer be all like "nope, un-uh, no way"?

Founders Curmudgeon is the magic beer.

@UrbanCaveman I have made an update today. Would you mind trying it again and let me know what happens?

I just tried it twice, with closing all browser windows between attempts. The result is the same. Apparently I make a glitch in the Matrix. :stuck_out_tongue:

The effort is appreciated! This just may be something squirrelly with my particular configuration.

I've been having a similar issue the past couple days. Just reviewed Devil's Backbone's Trukker Pils without any problem, but every attempt at submitting my review for their Bravo Four-Point Session IPA gets the "gray bars, then nothing happens" thing. Tried with two different browsers, connected to two different wi-fi networks, several different times of day... same result every time.

So apparently you're not the only one who this is happening to.

After trying again a few more times, it seems that only trying to review gives me trouble -- I tried again just now and was able to put the rating in without a review no problem, but trying to add a review gives me the gray loading bars that flicker past two or three times and then nothing. Really odd.
