I went back to that liquor store in town that I had previously complained about charging 12.99 for Pliny the Elder here in northern California, and I asked them again how much they were charging, and they are STILL charging 12.99. Even after contacting Russian River about the situation.

Vinnie if you are reading this, something needs to be done. That's fresh Pliny that people are being jipped for, or will sit on the shelves due to the price.

    !!!!

I could buy almost 3 bottles for that. Definitely shady. If I were you, I wouldn't give that place any business whatsoever.

About what parts of NorCal are we talking, btw?

this is why they get away with it to be honest. its got a cult following and everyone is trying to get their hands on some. Stores could prob charge 15 bucks and sell out. just the way the cookie crumbles

So what? Buy another beer or go to a different store. The cause of this is people treating Pliny like it is the only DIPA on earth just because it has a high score on BA.

DISLIKE!!!! Hopefully karma will kick the store owner in the jewels. Post the store name so we can all give them bad reviews. They're a bunch of jerks!

Dude, I like Double Jack even more than Pliny. And it is Fast Stop Food Mart in Morgan Hill.

Good selection but the overcharging is ridick! Don't go!

Wow even with shipping charges I can get bottles for cheaper than that. Seems like a terrible business practice when you sell the stuff in Cali, but I guess they get people to spend that much? You should check the dates on the bottles to see if they are hella old or what.

How is it that folks complain about prices that a private business sets? They bought it, they now own it, and are reselling it. If you don't like it, vote with your wallet!

YES, Mr Funky is correct. Can everyone please stop buying Pliny, buy Double Jack instead. That should bring prices down a bit. Lol.

I'm torn on this one. The practical side of me says, "You're darn straight, that's a ridiculous price, especially when you live in proximity to the brewery" (proximity meaning at least the same state/coast where the stuff is distributed). The East Coast cynical side of me says, "Quit 'yer bitchin, at least you can buy it in the bottle".

It is a ridiculous price when compared to others around, I wouldn't pay that for Pliny just trade for it.

If I lived in a state where it was not distributed then the price would seem justifiable. But when you have stores within driving distance that sell it for a good price, like Kelly's for 5.99, then the store close to you makes you angry.

Work out if you waste more in gas getting to Kelly's or buying the overpriced one. It may still make sense to go with overpriced depending on how far away you're talking here but I doubt it.
