My local pours it without a head. More beer for me, but something's just not the same about a Weissbier without a nice head on it IMO.

“ …it shouldn't taste even remotely close to Corona.” Yes, it shouldn’t taste like Corona.

The ‘challenge’ of drinking imported German beers is finding one that is in good shape: not too old and/or beat up in transport. My guess is that your Weihenstephaner is either too old or it got abused in transport (too high a temperature for instance). When you obtain a bottle of Weihenstephaner Hefeweisse beer that is fresh and in good shape it is a beer of beauty. When it is old/tired it is a disappointment.

    Cheers!

Never had a bad Weihenstephaner beer. Hefeweissbier and Vitus are my favorites. They have a beautiful pour every time for me, and I do not use a hefeweizen glass (I, unfortunately, don't own one.)

I've recently tried the Weihenstephaner after being told of it by a friend of mine (Cyrano41). The first one was a little warm for my taste and bubbled up as soon as I uncapped, but never "gushed" out of the bottle. Loads of head on the first one, but after the others cooled a bit more and a bit of more careful pouring, the head was still quite impressive but not overboard. An absolutely outstanding beer! Don't know how you could get a beer like this to pour flat, unless maybe it was bad.
