Patrons should also look at it this way which is that it allows them to keep a check on what they have ordered because as the drinks continue and the intoxication starts to take effect they can be charged for drinks they didn't have and not realise it come the point of the time it is to settle up (especially ones that relate to other patrons who have stiffed the bar or bartenders shouting themselves drinks of the tab)

This pertains to London pubs in particular but there are too many degenerates and criminals out there for this to work as they will just steal them.

I've given up asking what sort of Kernel IPA or Pale Ale is on in most London bars.

I was on that end as well, probably about 10 - 12 feet from the entrance where the "beer to take home" counter was located. I do believe it was fairly early in the day so maybe the volume goes up as the day goes on. We had flown to Chicago for an event. Wish we had driven so I could have picked up a case of Zombie Dust.

Ugh... I went to a brewpub with a 14% ABV BA stout; they wouldn't sell it in less than a pint.

Disagree. This isn't the 80s anymore. When craft beer is sold almost everywhere that sells beer these days, even at grocery chains and convenience stores, I would expect businesses that focus on beer to have at least a little knowledge of craft beer. And I doubt you would expect such a lack of knowledge at other retails shops, nor would you think a customer was a dick for assuming that "everything" means "everything":

Restaurant customer: "What do you have to eat?"
    Waitress: "We have everything!"
Customer: "Great! I'll have a lamb gyro."
    Waitress: "Uh---a what?"
Customer: "OK, how about a Philly cheese steak?"
Waitress: "Well---we could put cheese on a steak I guess. I'll ask the cook."

Auto parts clerk: "We got everything for your car, pal."
Customer: "Great! I need a replacement oxygen sensor."
Clerk: "A what? This isn't a scuba gear store, buddy."

If you ask for things purposely that you know don't get distributed to you, or that are very rare that you don't know they don't have you are being a dick. What was being done was trying to shame someone with a vast knowledge of craft beer. It's a pretty common attitude in the craft world, but to me it's unacceptable.

Everything never means everything and you'd have to be a little touched in the head to think it does. Not to mention if a bartender claims to have 'everything' you are not in a restaurant focused on craft and you know it. Never once has someone in the Yard House, or Lord Hobo, or The Armsby told me they have everything. I have however heard that at Chili's. I ordered a Sam Adams and moved on with my life.

Your argument is baseless and just excuses the holier than thou attitude that runs deep through this scene. It's embarrassing to see it and embarrassing to hear people stick up for it.

Places with online presences where they post their draft list but don't keep it current -- BIG pet peeve. If you're not going to make your information actually present accurate information, please just don't bother. I will get up, put pants on and leave my house to go to a bar if they have something on tap I want to drink. If their list isn't up to date, I run the chance of putting pants on for NOTHING!! :slight_frown:

When the bartender over-pours/ does a hard pour/ the beer produces to much head and it over flows all over the glass and then the bartender just hands you the glass with out so much as wiping it down. I HATE THAT

It was a Halloween party, not in the gambling area, a separate spot where you paid for drinks. I wanted a beer, and it was either Bud or Shock Top. I prefer Bud.

It really is a shame to see how entitled so many BA's are about their craft beer. Try to remember that to places that primarily serve BMC you are maybe one of six or so people who drink anything different out of the nearly 200-300 people they likely see in a given day. It's not like they went through 4 years of schooling to serve hot wings and Bud Light to asshole patrons. More realistically they got a one-day training seminar that surprisingly didn't include a certified cicerone course.

bartenders who do not care about the pour and shove the faucet in my beer, and then i, with a conscience and a good heart, tipping them graciously. it hurts, but you still gotta respect the bartender!

When places give you less than 16oz and have advertised 16oz or a pint, refuse to pay until you get a full 16oz also consider giving no tip and leave a note explaining why, yes I realize management is most likely responsible but if lots of people do this the server or bartender will complain to management. I'm thinking they'll change their tune real quick.
