I'll be in Newark, NJ next week for one night for work trading the following day then flying back to LA. Is there anything (brewpub, microbrewery, restaurant) that I can check out while I'm there for the one night? More than likely I'll be staying near Newark airport. I was thinking about taking the AirTran to New York Penn Station if there is nothing to check out in Newark. Anyplace where I can get a bite to eat and some good craft beer would be nice. Anything good local brews I can get there that SoCal don't have. Mainly into ipas. But also enjoy stouts, porters and Belgian ales. Also wouldn't mind bringing back a few bottles with me that I can't get back home. Any help here is very much apprieated. Thanks in advance.

Going to NYC may be your best bet, a lot of good options in walking distance from Penn Station. Plenty of threads about it, but try Rattle N Hum and Ginger Man.

Newark doesn't really have anything to offer. If you decide to take the train into NYC you will have no trouble finding good craft beer. You should also be able to take the train into Hobken which has Sparrow for bottles if you want to take something home and don't venture into NYC. If you have the means of renting a car there is Super Buy Rite in Jersey City which has a large selection and Wine Library in Springfield. Both are within a half hour of Newark.

Drink wine in the Ironbound or hop the path to NYC. Or both.
