I'll be flying to IAH tomorrow for one night. Have training on Thursday. So I wont have anytime on Thursday to explore. What I'm looking for is local or Texas beer (IPA's > clear or hazy). I wont have a rental but instead taking Uber. I would like to keep it close to the airport area as that's where my hotel will be. Looking for recommendations for a good steakhouse with ipa's and also a bottle shop with cans to go. Anything worth bringing back to CA? Thanks in advance.

Ingenious (Milkshake IPA's, NEIPA's, pastry/desert everything else), Spindletap (NEIPA's), and City Acre are close breweries. City Acre has pretty good food. Check times cause not sure when they all open, might not all be open on Wednesday. I think Ingenious is and they do crowlers on some things. A brand new brewery just opened in Spring, called Southern Yankee. I think they do beer to go (I haven't checked them out yet), looks like they do a wide range of styles.

For steak houses, there are a lot of chains in the Humble area but don't think that is what you are looking for...Though Saltgrass isn't the worst spot ever, probably no good beer options. Corkscrew is one of the best BBQ spots in Houston, they are in downtown Spring. Which might be doable, but you will have to decide. They only have a few canned beers, I think Saint Arnold Art Car is available which is good.

There is also a good beer bar in Humble called Hop Stop. They have a few package beers to go and do growlers/crowlers. Hop Scholar is in Spring and another good beer bar that is very similar.

Thats all I can think of, not a ton of spots in the immediate area.

There are cans for Spindletap's NEIPA's floating around, 5% Tint, Houston Haze, but personally get a 4 pack of Yellow rose and wrap it good. I would take that over any NEIPA coming out of Houston. And yeah you are in a steak desert in humble. There is a Total Wine in Humble, you can check inventory online. Currently they have Houston Haze and Yellow Rose. I saw the 5% Tint at my local one today behind a counter, so it might have just dropped today. Have fun.

If you had to pick between Spindletap and Ingenious, which would you choose? I might need to hang around the airport for a couple hours to pick up my parents who arrive on a later flight.

Hop Stop (beer bar/growler/crowler store) will almost always have something from both breweries, along with several others around Houston. For just a place to hang, that would be it for me. Not far from the airport at all.

    Personally, I'd choose Spindletap.
I've only had 4-5 beers from Ingenious, though.

You've got some great advice from those who already posted.

I'd just add that Ingenious is more adjunct focused (pastry stouts, etc.) and SpindleTap is more NEIPA focused. Personally, I can't say I prefer one over the other. I'm pretty lukewarm on both.

Ended up at Ingenious. We didn't have as much time as I thought we would, so could only do a quick trip. My brother in law doesn't drink much beer, but he likes sours, and Ingenious had a few Smarties on tap. He had the maple cranberry tart version and we all thought it was great. Really interesting with the maple in a sour. I had a couple half pours of hazies, and my sister had a stout. All were very tasty.
