What: Ribbon Cutting Ceremony at Overshores Brewing Company’s new facility

When: Friday, April 4, 2014 at 11:00 am

Where: 250 Bradley Street, East Haven, CT 06512

Overshores Brewing Co. will soon begin producing its five signature beers—the Simpel, the Tripel Brun, and the Belgique du Noire that fans are already familiar with as well as a saison, La Belle Fermiere and Blanc de Blanche, a Belgian style white beer.

Overshores beer has been long awaited by beer connoisseurs around state since the start-up debuted at the 2011 CPTV Craft Beer and Chili Challenge and stood out as the third place finisher in a field of over 70 breweries, including a number of true Belgian imports. In 2012, Overshores returned to the event and was awarded first place, beating over 85 other established breweries.

“We are so excited to be finally brewing here in East Haven. The town has been extremely welcoming and we’re looking forward to being a part of this great community,” said Christian Amport, founder and president of Overshores Brewing Co. “As the only Belgian style brewery in Connecticut, we look forward to getting our beer out to our fans that have supported us for so long as we got up and running.”

Any idea on hours? What they're doing other than cutting a ribbon? If there will be beer available on this day? They tweeted on March 19 that they should be able to start brewing, so if they just started to brew, it doesn't seem like beer would be available.

Can't wait to check them out. I had some of their stuff at the 2011 Beer & Chilli Fest and it was really good. I half remember them having a sign out stating that they were looking for investors. Looks like that worked out for them.

they just posted on FB that the April 4th ribbon cutting ceremony will be only that, a ceremony for the local community and the town reps. there will be no beer available. the official opening will be in a few weeks.

I think they're having a soft opening today. May 1st. open from 4-7 pm and if I read the FB page correctly they'll be pouring some classic Belgian offerings as well as their own beer.

I had it at opening. Solid beer. If I had to nitpick, it more with a general gripe I have with the interpretation of the style. To me the ideal saison is like dupont: light, dry, spritzy, funky. A lot of breweries ramp up their saison and it becomes more of a tripel. More abv, sweeter, less funk. I felt fermiere was more of a tripel than saison, but was still drinkable as hell, and held its own for sure against other Belgian standards (had fermiere and duvel, la fin du monde, leffe brune all at the opening).
I, for one, am very much looking forward to more of their beer coming soon.
