All of the brewing of the Ovila beers takes place at Sierra Nevada by our brewers. The monks work with us on beer styles, quality and flavor standards and provide raw ingredients (especially in the case of the Quad with plums and the forthcoming Saison with mandarins which which both the plums and mandarins were grown on-site at the monastery.)

In no way does the Ovila series qualify for anything with the Trappist mark on it.

These beers are simply abbey ales brewed with our friends at New Clairvaux inspired by the monastic beers of Belgium(which we love!)

As to the original question, the Quad with plums is an entirely different beer than the original quad release. The same is true for the saison... that beer won't even taste similar to the original release.

The ship date for the Ovila with Mandarins is mid-May.

    Cheers!
