was planning on heading up yesterday but according to their answering machine the tasting room is only open Wed-Fri, even though the website says Saturday. Can anybody confirm?

I am heading up this weekend, can anyone recommend a lunch place to hit after? Newcastle Publick House is looking pretty good.

Depends on the direction you're traveling after visiting. If headed south, there are a number of good places in Brunswick (I stopped at Frontier Cafe in the old mill in Brunswick last time I was up). A lot of the other places along the way are seasonal, or not too exciting.

Edit: of course there's Lion's Pride in Brunswick, certainly the best tap list north of Portland.

Celeste will be happy to make restaurant recommendations while filling your growler

I will be heading back to Portland, I saw Frontier and wasn't sure if it was just a movie theatre. Thanks for the tip!

Had a great dinner at Frontier last summer - all kinds of small plates you can mix & match with multi-ethnic themes. Decent beer list too. Don't neglect Gelato Fiasco on Maine St. for dessert, either. And Lion's Pride never disappoints - it's all right there in Brunswick! Celeste at Oxbow is a fellow Vermonter - she's good people and very helpful.

Lion's Pride and Novare Res in one day? I guess if it has to be done.

And Sasuga has just been released, and Saison Noel is still going! Spring and winter all at once.

Pale Ale is on tap at the Armsby Abbey for any Central MA people.

Visited with my gf late last year when the new tasting room had just opened - absolutely loved it. Probably one of my favorite settings for a brewery - in the woods! The beers are great and the people are too - met Mike.

Couldn't recommend it enough. I'll definitely be back when I visit Maine again.

So glad Oxbow kegs make their way down to DC through their weird distribution laws!

Loved the Farmhouse pale ale when I was in Maine last summer. Unfortunately I wasn't going to be going through the area of the brewery at a time when they were open, but I'm glad to hear they have a new tasting room and are open for more days. Hopefully I'll be able to stop in sometime this summer if I'm in Maine.

P.S. Marshall's Wharf / Three Tides is awesome too. VT --> Marhsall Wharf --> Oxbow --> Portland --> Ebenezer's --> VT sounds like a nice extended weeked trip

Going to have to disagree with you on how funky and interesting their yeast is. Pretty confident they are using French Saison 3711 and it is making some truly one dimensional "saisons" at best.

The Oxbow/Stillwater collab is coming down the coast. They will be offering it at Max's on Broadway (Baltimore) this Sunday, as part of Max's Belgian Beer Fest. Awesome...

Also, as someone stated above, you can indeed find their beers on draft floating around DC. The Meridian Pint often has the flagship stuff on tap

Oxbow definitely kills it - have only had 5 or so of their brews now, but what an innovative and fantastic brewery. Their most recent batch of BA FPA is delicious

Pay no attention to that troll up above - he's only got 7 posts, all sh*tting on various local breweries. Seems like an odd trolling habit, but whatever....

Oxbow's just kegged up a bunch of barrel aged stuff recently - presumably some is headed to Baltimore right now, and the rest is sitting in the tasting room. I assume this will be hitting beer dinners (Oxbow @ Duckfat next month) and local accounts soon. I think we'll be seeing a lot more of the barrel aged stuff that's been maturing for the last year or more hitting the street soon. Yum.
