I enjoyed the Farmhouse. True to the style and perfect beer paired with food. Checked the map New Castle looks like a hike. My in-laws live in Durham. Thinking about making the trip this summer. Looked like u can take rte 1 along coast. Should be a nice ride

If your folks are in tow, take them out to Newcastle Public House just north on Rte. 1 for a good lunch, and enjoy several of their offerings on tap there.

Plan for Rt1 approaching Wiscasset (the turn off to Alna/Newcastle) to be a horrible traffic nightmare on Fridays or Saturdays in summer. There are alternate routes - consult here or the brewery's Facebook as the time gets closer.

I've had good luck making sure I'm going thru this area early in the day to hit the brewery for the 12 noon opening time on Saturdays, even in the summer.

Driving in the winter is also very picturesque, I cannot recommend it enough.

I stumbled upon Oxbow at their 2nd anniversary party and after having an absolute blast all day, I left loving the place far more than a visit to Hill Farmstead, and thought all of the beer was outstanding, similar to HF. Thenceforth know to me as HF of ME. draft distro has been seen in NY recently, and I can only hope someone in CT will be smart enough to gobble it up so I can have it more regularly.

Give them a call - usually Celeste or Jake is there by noon to pick up the phone and answer your questions. But Facebook is always updated.
