Just curious if its a flavor that doesnt lend well to IPA's or just my unrefined palate...
very noticeable from an IPA I just tried (named after a fatherless kitty in B'ham) cans dated 8/16
Kinda reminds me of stale malt / unfermentables, is this maybe a trait of Munich malt?

Im not trying to roll them under a wheel, just a flavor I dont like (in IPA's) or an off flavor?
Edit: I do think the hop profile is very tasty.

I'm not understanding what ya mean by oxidization/fermentation. Could you clarify a bit?

Are those a factor in what I taste, or something else ?

If it tastes like wet cardboard, than it's probably oxidized. If it tastes cloyingly sweet with a really dirty tasting hop finish, it usually mean's it's stale. If it tastes like both, it's probably oxidized and stale. Not sure on the date though, most beers in cans take a while to oxidize or even get stale.

Well, oxidization could be, oxygen could have gotten into the system during the canning process. Oxygen can give a cardboard taste, is that what you're getting?

Oxidation has the flavor of wet paper or cardboard. Not sure if that helps you. Fermentation is what makes beer ... sorry, I don't mean that in a condescending way!

Best as I can describe is a stale malted barley, but could be mash / boil or fermentation flavors.
    Could be just me...

Looking at the date, probably not oxidized, nor stale, but sometimes that malt is old or they have an issue with the brew. I'd actually ask the brewery if I were you.

FWIW, I've had a lot of that beer, and I've never had it be like you're describing, doesn't mean it can't happen though. Might have been a hiccup on the canning line. They're pretty responsive, I'd contact them: http://www.kulshanbrewery.com/contact-us/ , and them know. I think they'd appreciate the feedback.
